Could say the same for mass graveyard hate, but it's still not widespread. We'll just have to be careful with white deck matchups. One thing that scares me too with combo decks like this is the targeted hate - - lately I've been seeing a surprising amt of main deck the end and the new black sweeper that finds and rips out specific cards. So taking all the roots, tyvars, and turtles from my roots deck seems brutal. Guess you just try to Duress those away...? 😅

I'm really surprised by Berserker over Gorehound. I've been playing a version of Golgari Roots with Gorehound, and Gorehound is incredible, probably the 2nd best card in the deck. I don't play Soul Cauldron, though, so maybe I need to try that out. I did try out Tenacious Underdog and some of the skeletons that come back from the graveyard and they're all pretty bad. You just don't need them. Fill up the GY and pull a couple things out of it is almost always enough to win, you don't need repeating creatures. The Turtles seem like a better version of that with added utility anyway, I really like what you did with them.

39:44 they had to wait for you to use the turtle, because if they just rip Tear Asunder off, you go bananas in response. Also important to note, speaking of that, if you just loop 2 turtles, you can go infinite at instant speed with 3 roots if it ever goes that long. Nuts.

That OreoSneaky player had to be a troll. Playing about 12 maindeck enchantment-hate cards means he just draws dead in about 2/3 of his matchups. That aside, this Plants deck has too many working parts for the average-tier player to pull off in most games, and the pieces are easily disrupted enough early on for some of the top tier decks. I also think it's easy to get caught up in trying to be combo-y in such a way that the more straightforward victory is sometimes missed - e.g. the Turtle to bounce away blockers and simply attack with big plants is often available much earlier than is presented here, and/or in an effort to keep doing the loop you accidentally tap everything. But it is a TON of fun!

So it looks like once you went infinite you just need one plant to attack, you can get 3-4 skyturtle in hand, use it to bounce enemy blockers, ship it for 20+. This is a super fun deck

I feel like slogurk and shigeki would be awesome in this deck! Slog gives you more threats and shigeki channel helps sky turtle loops while also buying back roots, and casting shigeki is also a sweet miller

around 23:50 if you just grab back maverick + another creature with repo you get 4 plants play artifact get 6 on their turn come your turn play maverick artifact again targeting berserker + maverick sacking maverick then exiling for another 2 plants you end up + 2 plants and a card

you're not favored at all, but the wins I have been able to get require early roots and trading/chumping any and all damage you can. You basically need to hit land drops until you can get Tyvar and Turtle + Urborg Rec engine going. I side in cutdowns and just trim the mill and surveil weenies, but I think the board would benefit from actual sweepers from black. Fun deck though, absolutely chews up the Bx midrange goodstuff decks provided they don't get a good early bat disruption going.

When is wizards going to make an ability the opposite of proliferate? You can gain life, but you can't heal from poison. I could see a whole cycle that is plainswalker heavy. Anti-proliferate would make sense.

Technically there’s Leeches out there to remove poison, but virtually nothing else…it’s definitely been one of the weakest balancing points for a Win Condition. And as for anti-proliferation, I feel like they tried it with the Vorniclex from Kaldheim, and it was brokenly good for doubling your counters and negating your opponent’s effects on sooo many levels. 🤷‍♂️😉 Same way with like The Immortal Sun and Solemnity.

Cauldron isn't a combo card as much as its just an enabler to trigger the roots each turn, that doubles as graveyard hate, a reliable source of counters, and occasionally an extra source of abilities. Its one of the best ways to trigger the roots for free besides like relic of progenitus since you choose what you exile from your GY
