Tom, you have no idea how helpful this is, i watched the video last year, forgot about it then for some reasoning from watching the TDF, i recognized they were climbing and snatching/tacking the elbows back left right left right...i tried it and it was so much smoother and at that point it was just my legs...whatever you saying about he elbow shit is super important and it all came together for me on that hill yesterday at the Cabrillo in San Diego:)

This is bringing back fond memories from my childhood with the talk of "dancing" on the peddles. You had to stand in order to get started or when going up hills because it was a one-speed and my hometown was kind of hilly everywhere.

I'm a heavier rider(185 and 6 feet tall) but I'm also lean and I love to climb and I stand quite a bit. I think it is kind of like running up a hill and as a runner, I also loved to run hard up hills as well so it's natural for me to stand while climbing.

I've done an exhausting search on how to get out of the saddle..but dancing..? Genius 👍🏾 I can dance. I've never heard it described that way. And oddly enough if you're new to cycling standing up at all is pretty scary, dancing is not. I will give it a go on my next ride. Thank you kindly sir!

Pogacar does this really well and it almost looks funny when he is dancing on the pedals but very effective

My issues with this technique are very frustrating. I can do this easily on my spin bike but for some reason, when I try this on my road bike, my knees tend to over kick and end up in a dead space on the spin and then my knee locks up. I’ve tried going up in gear to increase the resistance like I do on the spin bike but it doesn’t seem to help. I’m 6’3” with a 34” and inseam and weight 248 pounds and I’m thinking this may be part of the problem? I can easily generate over 400 watts standing on the spin bike for over 90 seconds and I’d love to be able to transfer this to the road bike.

Lastly how sick was Tim De Clerk he is a huge bike rider those first 3 days being and the front of the Peloton and setting such a furious pace...totally separates the pros vs the rest of us.....that was so freaking amazing to watch and he looked like he was out on a sunday morning ride...the commentators i go back and forth between Anthony and Phil legged but Anthony side kick a former tour rider said that Tim D. can do that all day.....wow! I don't even care about winning anything if i could only do a resemblance of that....my work is done!

Who are the Riders on the tour with the best technique past and present? I would say Alberto Cantador and Julian Alaphilipe? I also noticed what looks like a power push of the same technique and it looks like the same style on steroids to get over the last part of the hill was really on display by Tom Doumalin when he is doing domestique duties

Whatever you mentioned about elbows lacks in illustration. Isn't KZbin a good place to demonstrate the technique you're talking about? Most of the video is just a talk show. Yet, the subject is very essential.
