We use Spies 480 hi tec but noticed even using the spectrophotometer the colors are not always a match and we have to resort to spray out cards,tinting ,and using the paint chips anyway.But I’m wondering if our spectrophotometer and software is outdated

In this case I would suggect you contact your local support team to ask them to check your spectro. You should also consider that as mentioned in the video application technique, spraygun set up and inlet pressure all play an important part in colour reproduction also so please ensure that you follow the advice given. Probably not and with a focus on repair rather than replace these days it's more cost effective for bodyshops to carry out these kind of repairs.

You know you’d still have to buy the bumper, right? And even if it is painted, its not gonna match because it’s likely the cars paint is somewhat faded. So this is the best way to get a cohesive color.

Hi, thanksfor your comments. The spectro will help you identify the colour and give the best match possible but what it cannot do at the moment is tell you how many coats of effect colour are needed to get the best match. That we are afraid is down to the painter to produce sprayouts with different numbers of coats of effect colour to assess which is the best match to the vehicle before attempting to paint it. Please remember to use the same product adjustment, gun set and inlet pressure when producing your sprayouts as you will on the car at a later stage and record the exact process used to ensurte that you can reproduce the colour.

@@StandoxOnline yeah I have Close to 100 white pearls sprayed out with my own tint adjustments. Most of the time you'll get the colour by adjusting the ground not the pearl. If you need too many coats of pearl it means the ground is often too clean and can become more difficult to blend. Just my opinion anyways
