I see that Maria Bamford's understudy is ready to blaze her own trail. A Middle-Eastern comic playing the psychotic white girl personality could be a novelty but she's lethally subtle with her humor in an oversized delivery. Now THAT is talent, maintaining that balance without stumbling once. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on this one.

@ForeverArtistNow - No question there...not trying to be snarky. Lol. What @Bruce John Shourt wrote about are basic performance practices used in the entertainment industry. Her voice is fine, but changing some nuances and volumes would help. Proximity factor is very important as well for consistency regarding the microphone. Listen to any seasoned comic, and you will see that they have honed these skills and their craft over a long period of time. I thought she was really funny. Her bits weren’t bad at all, and she definitely has appeal to different demographics. When she sang, “Fresh breatttthhh, ‘cause you never know who you’re gonna kiss on the diiiccckkk.” I wharblegharbled the coffee in my mouth and some spilled out. She reminded me a bit of Ilana Glazer and Jenny Slate. Definitely not an insult. I hope to see more of her material soon. I think she could definitely do some great improv, based on her quick wit and judging the audience and playing to them well. I have nothing negative to say about her. She’s doing better than me.

Every comment under every other stand-up clip is 1) That was funny 2) I didn't laugh once 3) Who says women can't be funny & 4) Funnier than Amy Schumer. Here it's just a dissection and analysis of what her intentions were with the act and whether or not the audience got it.

It's why Kaufman style of comedy is so hard. On one hand, surrealism is the style you're selling, but on another you still need to sell it to mainstream audience, always balancing to keep it accessible enough so they can feel smug - that's the whole point. The wider the common denominator, the simpler the anchors need to be for the average viewer to orient themselves. I think it would really help if she really had a technically impressive number to go along with it, to create true anchor (and contrast) to "ordinary showbiz", like Kaufman did with Elvis impersonations and clearly delineated persona of Tony Clifton.

I loved it . Somehow I really like how nervous and unconsistent she was. I am a lil bit tired of everything going smooth during a comedy set. Her jokes were great. I feel like she's just starting. She will be just fine. Also i really liked that comment about how she would be great for SNL. Because I felt same♡

Her satire, in this barely contained hysteric, + the weird loud barked out laughs of the crowd are really sending me. Its manic. I hope to see more of her standup!! I couldnt find other things than some sketches and that asmr activism thing which is a shame. I dig this set

That.... Was something magical. What I absolutely adore about this entire bit is she gets ever so slightly more annoying, like, she’s doing a better and better impression of the “crazy white girl”, snaps back into her actual personality and then snaps back into character before the fucking punchline. The punchline is madness.

@From a Bicycle seat You went franchise super fast there. I'm more independent-mainstream tie in minded. Like... The industry could stop pretending that parts of itself don't exist. Why they haven't made a movie about the internet/ social media boom of talent I'll never understand. It's like,.. them putting numbers on the board and proverbial "asses in the seats" somehow lack the merit of backing. It's probably an old advertising vs new media type of deal. Who knows. I just feel like a lot of fun is being missed out on due to control issues and stubborn tradition. Meh.

Nicholas Edington Was I there in 1622 when Othello was completed? Nope. And neither was Shakespeare, who died unceremoniously in 1616. Being the greatest playwright in English history is difficult enough while one is still alive, but to do it after death would truly be a remarkable achievement.
