For someone who is supposed to be an expert on charisma, she doesn't come across as a particularly strong public speaker. Her arms are usually hanging limply in front of her and much of the talk seems over-rehearsed (as if she's learned a script). In fact, she has: the opening story about Marilyn Monroe is almost word for word how she opens the introduction of her book. If I'd seen this talk first, I wouldn't have bought the book, though I have to admit I am enjoying it so far.

Swell Sure, but charisma is all about perception is it not? Charisma has no 'reality' beyond the perception of the audience. That said, I assess job candidates for a living, including in a context that has a public speaking component, and she would not do well against the consensually designed scoring criteria there.

I enjoyed the talk, I don't know why her arms were liming like that. Maybe something happen to her arms when she was younger. Ahhhh see what I did there! Wow that technique is helpful, it made me enjoy the talk even more. Because of her arms I doubt that she is a charismatic person but just a change in belief changed my percepton so fast lol.

well, Have you listened the audiobook; Art of Seduction? She is mimicking the narrator. Obviously she has been "impressed" by the book a lot :) Book is full of such stories she is telling btw, an amazing pile of info, all kinds of seducers all through the history, I highly recommend..

What I don't understand is how would I possibly learn or get a better grasp in emanating or exercising charisma from someone who quite clearly doesn't exude it? I was quite excited when I came across the book, but I wanted to ascertain the quality of the writer first. Any excitement I had evaporated when I watched videos of her. A nice person, obviously. But there's no shortage of these sort of banal personalities in everyday life; which quite definitely doesn't manifest itself as a paragon of charm, or in this case, not even a decent speaker or an enjoyable individual to listen to. I find it quite anomalous that visibly dull people are disseminating instructions on how to exude 'charisma' and making a living off of it.

I think she does a fine job in this talk. But holy cow is the camera work bad! It's not that hard to follow a slowly walking person on stage. Watch any TED talk for comparison. The jerkiness and obvious struggle to keep Olivia in frame really took away from the quality of this talk.

I feel cheated by amazons positive reviews when i bought her book. She isn't charismatic at all. Her introduction is the same as her book. How can she speak about charisma. I will be careful from now one with book reviews

In her book, Olivia talks about different charismas for different situations. I'm sure she has different abilities and maybe even characters in charisma. I can also see why you feel that way from your viewpoint. You should check her book out, I'd say it's a great investment.

jewish charisma... as im looking up on the internet, i see all this stuff linking Christianity to Charisma, but I think this is not really true, seeing as my life has recently formed around me a lot like an amazing movie (down to a cheesy matrix-like interface, which im hoping is eventually dissolved) where my fantasies are kind of all being indulged, I believe that really, its kind of a joke, once I read up on a charismatic christian mystical group, apparently their family, parents and children alike took part in group sex on a regular basis, im not sure any human being who could actually withstand this kind of thing. not to say all christians are bad, but I think there is a want for like the return of Jewish Charisma in a modern context, thats what wantism basically represents, we are not zionists, not fundamentalist, we are normal people from everyday life, living moral lives, maybe not totally perfect but to act as if the literal Torah is being reenacted in modern times is ridiculous. we have to face it, people love jews. Jews are not going away, my job is just to bring back the Charisma, to the right place, the jewish tradition is non-rape, nonviolence, SHALOM, we read torah and we see there were some bad things, but we know thats not the true God, so we dont practice in a fundamentalist way. look at Jerry Seinfeld, he was chill, he was not anti palestine, it wasnt about that, it was just about a style. a certain je ne se pai. we can't lose that, paganism, wicca, its beautiful but the jews have a special gift. the jews are basically the foundation of the modern media structure. it needs to be taken care of, in doing so, we do end the wars, we end the battle, its a bit chaotic, but its all about just focusing it back to the power of now. the truth is jews have been believing in the law of the karma for a long time, Torah is art, karmas law is ultimate reality. jews are hippies, thats really what its about. if it switches over to christianity, then bad things seem to start hapening to jews, but if it stays with jews, tribes dont get run over by missionaries wanting to destroy their faiths. Christians prosper moreso because they stop worrying about controlling others and more on how to express the most love possible, muslims the same it all stems from the jews, if the jews go, the whole world falls into the level of a horrible programmed cult. this is just reality that i've seen as a matter of fact. the jews are the ones preserving these indigenous faiths and these mythologies of the world and allowing them to mingle in peace, no one else, the torah is a book of mirrors, designed to teach us to have empathy for our enemies, it doesnt directly state it but it implies it! of course, its true implication is karmas law and karmas law alone. when i search on youtube, i see videos for 'the charis of adolf hitler' when i search google, i see 'charisma of the pentocastal church and christianity' these people are not adding anything worthwhile, and i refuse to believe this is a real battle, but a request for a few moments of zen appreciating the jews, a strange people for who they really are, helping of all the world and all walks of life. and by doing so, we see that everyone is jewish. its not a racist thing, its not about battle. we have to define it for ourselves, based on the good vibes, dont let the good spirit of the jews die away... its a tradition that is so important, MLK reincarnates, and this time, he's jewish.. and a woman... Charisma is not an INSTRUMENT, the comparison with the language (also an instrument of communication) sucks. The language is neutral, whereas the "faked charisma" is a MANIPULATION. You dont manipulate people speaking foreign language, but you manipulate them pretending that you are warm, present and care about them in the situation, while you dont. That'why charisma is inborn and innate - in people who REALLY feel for others, find them interesting etc.
