Hi Stan - glad you had fun. A few other details about the setup, for the curious. The mower is a Bad Boy Outlaw XP. They don't make this particular model anymore, but it is in line with their current biggest mowers. This one has a Briggs Vanguard 36hp V-Twin. It will do 12 mph - haven't had any issues yet, other than tire wear. But I haven't watched close enough to tell if I have more tire wear plowing snow or mowing. The load on the hydros usually isn't too bad in the winter - traction limited and all. They work far harder on my hilly yard in the summer. Plus these Parker pumps have coolers, and its cold outside in the winter. I usually put the mower on a battery maintainer between uses to keep the battery up - especially if plowing at night. The charging output on the Briggs isn't a whole lot higher than the draw of my light package. Never had an issue with it going dead during use. This Briggs doesn't have the greatest starter - it will have trouble below 40F - it can't spin the cold hydros. In the heated garage it isn't an issue. If I left it out below 40, I may have to open the bypass valve on one of the hydros so it can turn it over. The plow is a Boss UTV V-XT 5'6" plow. This started out as an experiment when I moved to this property - the thought being, if it didn't work, I'd move the plow to a four wheeler. Three seasons later, I still haven't bought a four wheeler. It works better than expected. Even with the toolcat now, I still use the plow for 90% of the snow, just because it is faster. The toolcat was new-to-me just a couple weeks before Stan came out. Still working on catching up on its neglect from a former life. Stan has my number if he gets any ideas for playing with the Toolcat in the summer, or if he wants to try out a BadBoy for actual mowing. Dan the Redneck Plow Creator

Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. kzbin.infoUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.

I plow snow in my 600 ft driveway with a 42" Hustler and a home made V plow. I don't have a lot of snow in Tennessee, but this works just fine in 6 inches of snow on a paved driveway. Have used this for three years. I have a pretty good hill in my driveway. Handling is not a problem.

While you're at it, ask your friends at BOSS why they do NOT yet make plow set ups for CFMOTO ATV's... they have them for every other kind of ATV, but NOT CFMOTO. I want a BOSS V-plow for my CFMOTO XC800 before this next winter. I talked to someone in technical support/design on the phone, after being directed to him from the FACEBOOK BOSS PLOW messenger -- he said CFMOTO was not on their radar, but they will look into it - probably won't be designed before this next winter. Please PUSH THEM TO DESIGN IT so I can get one for my CFMOTO XC800 ATV BEFORE the snow hits in late 2021... cfmotousa.com/ ... AGAIN, specifically, the XC800 CFMOTO ;-)

I used to work for the county parks department. We had a factory snow blade for a Grasshopper 725 zero turn. They even sold a wheel weight set and cab for it. Spent many hours pushing snow with that machine. I could move snow faster than our JD 425 tractor with the blade could. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the cab kit...... My old White 1800 zero turn had an optional snow blower attachment...

Dan’s setup works surprisingly well. I plowed with a John Deere 214 garden tractor before I got my drivers license and started plowing with a pickup. That Boss V would have been super sweet on that old tractor. I had wheel weights, suitcase weights on the back, and 2 link tire chains on it. I even used it to plow our ice skating pond when the ice got thick enough. It would move some serious snow.

I have 120 lbs added to the rear for counter weight. (need more). I do have chains on the rear wheels. The controls are so easy to get use to. (mine mounted on the left). That has the maneuverability of a skid steer without the cost. Zero turn! Perfect for complex driveways. A side by side is heated but it's not as maneuverable.
@codetech55982 жыл бұрын
When people plow with a small skid steer, they ride the blade and the powered front wheels don't touch the ground, which is similar to using a zero turn. So I think a commercial duty zero turn would be good for plowing.

Stan i owned a Tool Cat 5600T for 4 years, with a 8 foot pusher box we moved snow up to 24 inches. Its a fast pusher and switching to crab steer you can get into some tight areas. Yes the boom needs to reach higher but in landscape prep we used it to grade for sod and seed. Used for large area landscape and snow plowing. Material like shrubs and flowers the tool cat could move more faster with less damage to existing turf. Things that needed improvement the A/C needed help with all the glass in the summer. Over all a great machine for snow and special landscape progects
