I live in a mountainous area, so I don't see wide-open spaces. The views, rock formations and colors are spectacular! Thanks for sharing your hike.

Thanks for your guidance Stan. I hiked the Valley of Fire State Park last week. It's a nice break from the snow,, and has amazing geology and wildlife we don't get in MT. Scrambling around slickrock, photographing arches, and backtracking out of narrowing slot canyons is a completely different experience.

Valley of Fire is beautiful red rock desert country. Awesome that you got to see some desert bighorn; that was a good sized ram.

really amazing hike, I loved seeing the mountain sheep. I did that white dome area when I was last there, it's really beautiful. The views from the top of the ridge were awesome.

This place is quite The experience and I like it better than Moab. I love that Arch campground is in such a beautiful area, and the Rams that come down to drink off the water fountains are great to wake up to!

We stayed overnight at the campground. We loved it. Wanted to go back but we never did until today. Keep us on the trail even though our hips don't allow it anymore. TYVM, Stan. Hope you carry a compass. Pretty lonely out there.

Nice desert hike! Last night, my Brother-in-law and myself went for an evening hike in the snow storm and we were walking in snow up to our knees at times. We saw a lot of Turkeys and it was a workout! Thanks for sharing Stan! Happy New Year! 😃

I was introduced to this area a few years ago by friends who stay there every year to escape the winter in Montana. Glad you found it too! The mountain sheep are something special…one time I had to wait almost an hour for them clear out before finishing my hike. Special place. Happy New Year Stan.

That was what I was doing also. But now I am back in Montana and will have to start snowshoeing and winter camping. I did 3 days of hiking in the desert and I must say I sure enjoyed it.

This landscape looks pretty hostile and dangerous, to me anyway and I would get the heebie jeebies after dark. Some great hiding places though! Stan, you find some interesting places; thank you. Just because I find the place alien does not mean I did not enjoy the video I do and I learn!
