Welcome to the 12th episode of a series, where I travel around official photo spots of the Grand Tour of Switzerland. In this episode, we will visit beautiful mountain Stanserhorn and it's Cabrio - world first unique double decker cable car.
Filmed across numerous trips in 2022 and 2023.
Grand Tour of Switzerland is the best alpine road trip in the world, which will take you on a 1600 km long scenic road, from lakes surrounded by palms, across amazing mountain passes, glaciers to rustic mountain villages. You will visit the most beautiful places in Switzerland. There are officially 60+ photo spots along the trip, marked with an iconic stand.

I like the mountain a lot as they are one of the few where cable car runs on the weekend till late evening, so you can film the sunset and stay on the top...

Thanks so much, Urška! ✨👍🏻 And it is very close to Luzern! 😀 Glad to hear that your son likes the airplanes - I found out about that festival just a few days ahead when our friends from Ticino were about to visit us, so it was quite great surprise for them. Have you been in the Flieger Flab Museum in Dübendorf (north of Zurich)? They have amazing collection of historical airplanes! airforcecenter.ch/startseite/ goo.gl/maps/m8SnoqdEdkhBfpab9 I like Stanserhorn a lot, because in the autumn they are still running cable car up to the late hours on the weekend, so you can film the sunset there This autumn, I'd like to return there to shoot night sky and evening timelapse for the episode about Luzern Lake and Alps at night.

Liked #24 👍 All I have yo say is WOW WOW WOW at 00:26 😮😊 Love the beautiful lighting at 1:33 and I see why you visited multiple t8mes to capture it. What a gorgeous sunset. At 1:58, it shifted to snow, not sure if the temperatures drop all of sudden after the sunset at the high altitude of where this was taken or another footage from winter time. Very cool Grand Tour Swiss logo!!!

Thanks a lot for your kind words! ✨ 👍🏻 The time with the snow was really fun - it came suddenly (huge drop in the temperature) and as the mountain is closed during the winter, I considered it a unique opportunity to film the top covered with snow. When I started from home, on the webcam I saw some clouds and fog interlaced with sun light and it was outstanding. But when I arrived it was already fully covered in the fog/clouds. I tried to fly with the drone above it, but freezing temperature together with high humidity of the cloud is not a great combo - a lot of ice covered propellers in a minute or two and I almost crashed the drone. The logo was animated in 3d animation plugin using existing template, but I like the outcome as well ✨😀 Wish you a wonderful day and thanks so much for stopping by and leaving so beautitul comments (as always). @JaroslavBengl Wow! Ypu got 3 experiences in 1 day. Saw many people with short sleeves and shorts goung to the top, yhen seeing magic sunset then suddenly snow!!! Be careful if water or ice building on the motors. Propellers are not a problem. I had a motor that failed on me during a flight and plunged bevause water vapors got inside flying on the morning mist clouds too long. Have a wonderful trip back to CR!!!

Yup, it was still a great trip and I enjoyed it 😀 Oh, sorry to hear that has to be scary moment. Did the drone at least partially survived? Here with ice on the propellers, the drone started to move chaotically and was not responding properly to the controller, so I quickly got it to the ground... After returning home, I've read some article about it - and you need to avoid to fly in the situation when dew point and freeze temperature are just few C degrees apart. It's the same time when they apply those anti-freezing sprays on the airplanes on the airports...

@JaroslavBengl It flew slighlty facing upwards, I immediately try to land but within 1 second screen blacked out and it fell onto grass field. Broken an arm. Sent it to DJI and fixed for $69, not too bad. They sent a refurbished. You responded swiftly to save it from crash. Not sure about spraying anti freeze on the propellers but it may do the trick, though not the same for the motors. Adding spray weight may make the flying little erratic. At least you saved the drone plus got a great footage out of the gamble.

@@BusterGotIt DJI has a very solid care system in place, isn't it? I was reading about the anti freeze spray, I will try it once the winter fog will be again around. It will be great if they will be able to make a drone more weather proof - I will feel more comfortable to fly closer to the waterfalls 😀

Thanks a lot! ✨😀 Stanserhorn cablecar is operating from April 13th 2024 till November 24th, 2024, so in the first week of May you will be definitively able to go up. Likely the best day, weather permitting, will be Saturday, May 4th as it will be first time open for the late evening, so you can enjoy the whole sunset at the top. In May the sunset is around 20:40, while the last cable car down on the regular days is already at 17:15. You can find more information here: www.stanserhorn.ch/en/informations/timetable
