So I picked up this stansport three burner stove because I always wanted one. I figure I do a review on it and the modifications I made to make it work more efficiently. I’ve been figured I cook a Cornish hen, where I’m using all three burners. Overall, I think it’s a very good stove .
So I’m John and I am 69 years old live full-time out of my jeep Cherokee XJ for about 4 1/2 years now

Enjoyed the video! Liked your workarounds on your stoves wind screen and grate. Brings to mind, the old saying, "Necessity is the mother of invention".

Oh man you had to mention to fishing word. Lol I I am dying and can’t wait to get back on the trout streams again. In the East Coast most of my Fly Fishing was in the Catskills in the Adirondacks. I always love the fish those small streams for Brooktrout. I definitely will be working on making better Flyfish videos.

Hey John, we met at French River in BC in July. I saw one of those Stanports (but 2 burner) at a thrift store when I got back to Alaska. I should have grabbed it. Instead, in August, I had a big old green (1950's) Coleman white gas 2 burner with the bronze colored tank come into my life. And then I just got the smaller version of the same (but red tank)(probably 1970's) given to me as well! Woo hoo! I love the white gas stoves. I cooked all summer on a single old whisperlite I found at a thrift store for $8 and resurrected it. I used only 90% of a can of fuel cooking for 30 nights for both breakfast and dinner, and using it also to heat up cleaning water. It was in the thrift store because it was jammed up with carbon probably from an attempt to run kerosene in it. I love it when these old stoves work again! Congratulations on your three burner set up! Incredible meal!

My previous stove was a two burner stansport. It did last me a year which ain’t too bad since I use it almost every day. I have a 20 pound propane tank melted to the top of my jeep which will last me three months and probably only cost me about $17 to fill it up. That comes out to about 6 dollars a month for cooking every day. I have had all those old stoves back in the day. They are definitely heavy duty. Since I’d love to cook, this three burner stove is perfect for me. Hoping to get back up to Canada again this summer. I’m thinking maybe driving up to Yellowknife in the northwest territory or drive up into Alaska to do some more exploring there.

@@overthehillandoverthemount2925 I had no idea that those big tanks of propane lasted so long. I've only used the green canisters and it seems like they give out pretty quick. That's a better deal than white gas, I'd say. Especially not having to dicker with the peculiarities of all white gas stoves. Alaska is big and plenty of space to pull off (they don't mind it generally, it's VERY common) and just camp where you want. I got home and only stayed there for 9 days and then drove around southern Alaska for another 1000 miles and 9 days. Wherever you go up here, you'll enjoy it!

@@gat569 my big tank is 20 pounds and a little greeny are one pounders. So basically, there’s 20 greenies in my big tank and with the cost of the greenies you can do the math. The big tank saves me a lot of money.

How do you have your Amazon orders delivered when you are on the road full time? Sent general delivery to a Post Office?
@overthehillandoverthemount2925
@overthehillandoverthemount2925 5 ай бұрын
Hey Louis sometimes you can find Amazon lockers at different locations. You can search for Amazon lockers on their website. These are usually good for small items. In some places I use shipping and receiving companies that will let you have packages delivered to them for about five dollars. Some places I order things from will ship things through the United States post office, and then I can have it general delivered anywhere. That’s how I get my mail. I hope this helps.

Nice mods - u put the idiot design engineers at stansport to shame😂👏🏼 hey, I was thinking regarding the silly”wind guard” flaps; couldn’t you just take a piece of foil and fold it over those flaps and have it extend an inch below the bottom to cover the opening?
@overthehillandoverthemount2925
@overthehillandoverthemount2925 5 ай бұрын
My job used to be designing and building automated machinery, and I’ve never been to college. Wrapping the whole stove also stops the wind from coming in from the back of the stove. so if it is windy, just face the back of the stove to the wind. It only takes a couple seconds to wrap the stove and then afterwards you can throw that in the corner out-of-the-way.
