Try this one time on your catch and cook. Get yourself a new galvanized garbage can and cut the bottom out. Make a shelf from some wire fencing, or something to lay the fish on. Hang it about 3" below the top of the can. Punch about 6 holes in the lid (1/2 inch). Set it on 3 or 4 bricks so that the side of the can will be off of the ground a couple of inches. Get some old hard mangrove wood and burn down to coals. Just use plain coarse salt and some black pepper on fish. Leave the scales on the filets. Place filets scales down on wire rack. If you can get some green Buttonwood leaves place them over the coals to make the smoke, if you can't get Buttonwood then you can use Mangrove leaves. Set wire rack inside can and place lid on can. Check in about 15 minutes to see if fish has turned white and dried out some, you want it a little one the dry side. This works great with some of the tougher snapper as well as black run mullet. Enjoy.

Hey Ken We just have StanzFam short sleeve cotton shirts, and then the alligator reef long sleeve performance camo shirt, which says STANZ fishing and it’s the green/reef color

Damn, never release grunts. I keep them all here in NC. I get made fun of all the time, but if you cook it well it’s good eating. If it’s legal, I’ll keep mostly everything I catch.
@ElderMillennialStuff3 жыл бұрын
Grunts taste great, nothing wrong with keeping a grunt
@benjigans14193 жыл бұрын
I mainly release them also. I live about 2 hours north of the Stanz crew. I ocean fish and catch those on the reef, I release them since they're very difficult to fillet and they're nothing but bones, especially the little ones.
@9929kingfish3 жыл бұрын
@@benjigans1419 your fillet skills must be weak. J/k. No more bones than any other snapper from what I can tell. If I catch a big grunt, he’s going in the grease. Hands down.
@benjigans14193 жыл бұрын
@@9929kingfish I take the big ones, just not the small ones. I don’t keep those that are under 12-14” even though there’s no minimum size Here in Florida.
