I agree that it needs a lot of love. IMO its strafe speeds should be as strong as its forward. And it should still be fast!

Great video man! This is a ship I personally picked up myself during Alien Day, it just really speaks to me on a personal level lol I can’t wait for it to get updated in the future, it’s nowhere near its lore based equivalent at the moment

Bought it during the concept sale, kept it till release, and CCUed it into something more useful because of the bad maneuverability and the fragile nature. The Look is still very cool(Like an Alien TIE Fighter) but my eyes are on the Newer TIE Variant(Guardian).

you swap the power cores for the ship, and you get full cap full shield. and that ship is a BEAST i have it and now if you pop in 4 laser cannons and set them to stagger fire, you are set it compensates the lag and you hit more shots

Despite not feeling great about the khartu-al I absolutely love the styling and stock colours of the san'tok.yai way more. The cockpit and interface is just perfect for an aopoa.

CIG should have recognized this ship needed to be a full-blown glass cannon to make it as appealing as it looks: top-tier maneuverability and speed with middle-of-the-road dps (for its class) at the same shield and hitpoints. it should have been as much fun to fly as it is to shoot down. CIG has no idea what they're doing at this point (and it doesn't seem they care so long as the money keeps pouring in from ship sales and whales)...

Everything feels the same which makes none of them unique anymore, it's going to end up doing what they didn't want to have in their game but on a hardcore level and we'll soon all be flying the exact same ship in each of their respective classes because META....this is getting idiotic.

Frankly, CIG is nerfin . . . er, balancing all their ships (AFTER they sell a bunch of the "unbalanced" ones) but they're not balancing the prices to match what you end up with. All the folks flying their shiny new Polarises (Polarii?) are going to be SCREAMING in a few patches.

I had a certain feel for what you said in the video but did not have the stats backing it up. I loved renting and flying it this week but flight is a bit strange especially in VTOL mode (almost no forward/back thrust when trying to land but you keep momentum that is with CPL on!) I took it for a bounty and for somthing sold as Medium fighter it felt like the guns were doing more light fighter. Now would never buy with real money for that price, and its usefulness is questionable in current patches but if I had a spare 10mill euc Id love to fly it again....but not "use" it again.

The VTOL and gear down modes seem to work normal for me with HOTAS - but damn was it squirrelly with anything else!

I took a rented one to kill the Idris for Save Stanton. I immediately had all 4 wings shot off, losing my missiles. But all of the engines and guns remained, and it was still fairly maneuverable.

Yeah man, with such a large cross-section head on compared to there in its class, you'd figure those huge articulating engines would have it zipping all over the place. I love the design of this ship and bought it at concept, but man I won't fly it until they do some sort of a balance to bring it to speed. Otherwise it's a very nice ornament for your hanger at the moment, as it's not great at its role and can't do any others.

Military components are trash this patch. I think CIG just wanted us to use literally anything else. Erkul suggests that just swapping the power plant to two Slipstreams brings the EM sig all the way down to 11K. That is a 10k drop per component. That is still not great, but at least it gets the EM sig below its high cross section.

These hybrid alien ships always remind me of some cabaret act, put on to amuse the audience as a pleasent pass time, trivial and underwhelming, yet personally, i wouldn't touch any alien hybrid, the Blade/Glave have been reworked for a long time, yet held back for the SP game, and every one of the current alien hybrids underperform, and are seemingly an afterthought on CIG's part. The paints for this ship are pretty decent. Probably they all need a much need ed rebalance, much like the redeemer/Corsair.....he-said. Kudos

This is a ship that I'm trying really hard to love, and I do love a lot of things like the overall design, absolutely beautiful cockpit and the engine sound, but it's fundamentally just a skinned regular fighter so I'm struggling. I don't care much about the performance, I wish there were more unique things about it. Giving it the charge cannon like the Banu Defender or making the projectiles unique at least would have helped. When I already have the F7A2, yeah the San'tok-yai has a hard time fitting in my hangar, especially since I'm not a ship fighter to begin with. At least the Khartu-al has a really unique shape. Hopefully we'll see another ship from Aopoa.

Unfortunately, much like the Talon, the "rule of cool" really hurts some of the alien ships when their concept doesn't rally work out. This thing, in space, should have the same (good/great) acceleration in all directions and in concept should strafe circles around other ships but it's massive head on profile gets it killed anyway. And the 4 size 3 weapons is a bit overplayed. Cool ship though. I bought one in concept but melted it pretty quick after it came out when it's shortcomings unfortunately just couldn't be overcome and it just wasn't more fun. Doesn't help that the game's fighter meta is slowly going away.

Man this ship looks awesome but it has tons of cons, everytime you listed a Stat i was even more disappointed in this ship, I heard about the price increase on this ship recently but have never honestly gave it any attention or thoughts. My opinion on it besides that it there are a lot better options for a whole heap cheaper.

Maybe have a friend got the same ship (maybe Gladius?) each time and dogfight them? Will give a clearer comparison for each ship you're reviewing.

I rented an STY last Alien Week (fell in love) and finally pledged for it this IAE… but melted it at the 24hr mark 😭 I got it for the new-age Gundam look and feel - such a cool concept but (since CIG tweaked its stats with Master Modes), due to the nerfed maneuverability; limited MFD; low DPS; and supreme fragility, it just doesn’t make for a “fun” dogfighting ship in its current state. Maybe I’ll use a buyback someday if it ever gets rebalanced but, for anyone else that is thinking of grinding/pledging for a Gundam-esque frame - I’d hold off because this isn’t it.

wish people would call it out, but entering the cockpit of this ship will drop your FPS by half (or about 15-20 frames if you have a very good machine). For a ship that requires precision, speed and more maneuvers than most medium fighters, its definitely a problem.

I really want to like this ship, the Transforming design is just something unique to it. but its like flying a paper airplane into a forest fire! if something just Looks at it its dead! And ya, this should should move around in any direction like its moving forward! sadly its just as slow changing directing as it is coming to a stop:(

In my head, I'm almost always comparing fighters to the Gladius. Its still probably my favorite fighter, between that and the Scorpius. (Haven't flown a Mk2 yet.) Seeing 4 size 3s on a medium fighter, just makes me appreciate the 3 size 3s on the Gladius even more. Despite the fact its a "light" fighter, I still rather fly that than the San'Tok.Yai. Plust the price for this ship is 'eww', though looking at my own hangar, I shouldn't really be complaining lol. Price wise, I wonder why I would choose this over a Scorpius, despite the weight class difference...I'd need to see the maneuverability comparison between the two, but I always felt the Scorpius was plenty maneuverable, so again...not sure why I would choose this over that...besides looks and alien tech.
