The Hull E is said to be able to switch Containers for external fighter-bays. Thats a great way to travel for short range small craft that don't have a jumpdrive. Also a great way to ship large amounts of fighters into battle.

Got myself a nice Hull B, I've been thinking of mainly doing transport/exploration anyway so I can use my Avenger for exploring and the B for hauling cargo. That being said, I've seen a lot of people saying they have bought multiple Hull A's just for a cheap LTI ship they can upgrade at some point!

I just thought I would put this out there .... there has been talk from rsi that the hull series will not just be able to carry cargo but will be completely modular ... this means that that the hull e could be turned into the biggest most shielded and most powered gun ship in the entire game.......

I am looking forward to this and I don’t even have one. Just the game state in which each Hull D or E needs an escort. And of course, pirates travel in packs. So Hull’s will start travelling in packs and things will escalate into 30 fighters, vs 30 pirates, to try and claim 3,000,000 SCU of cargo. The tense atmosphere of players not wanting to lose countless millions/ billions in cargo or their ship. And pirates likely to far out in space to jump back without refuelling is going to be one hell of a cinematic and teamplay experience.

I see it as a logistical supply ship for large fleets. Your Idris or Javelin run out of ammo on the front line? Fall back to the Hull E and restock. It would be a necessity for long lasting battles with 3 or more capital ships involved.

one caveat regarding the Hull E: CIG had a little warning in their sales pitch that the cost to fully load the cargo to capacity could exceed the actual purchase value of the ship itself!

if you own on of the hull series i can imagnin you ever will fly it empty. if you have a mission flying from A to B then you should probely by a lot of stuff at B to sell at C, the only time i can see you wanna fly without cargo, is if your going to and outpost, to collect there product, and even then you should probely have som material with you... but it lokks nice:D

Hey guys, just putting a thought out there. Like most people I'm assuming would think that the Hull A would be a useless ship to get when you can start out with a Hull B which is still a one man ship doing the same job, but holds more cargo.. Well my thought is, if we can attach different components to the cargo holders well you could possible then put a long range scanner or if this exits a sensor jamming device. So you can be the support ship when flying around with your mates.. I know that there's a hornet with a sensor device on it, but if you could get one that is more powerful and has increased range then the hornet variant, then you have the upper hand right away to choose your cause of action as you'll see other ships before they notice you and your buddies.. This can even be for exploring situations to. Not just combat orientated. Not sure if anyone has said this already and sorry to repeat if you have, but just throwing an idea out there that I think is pretty cool. StarCitizen - Wolvie/WolvieONE

Thats the reason why I decided to but the freelancer max although yes it has nowhere near the amount of cargo capacity of any of them I decided to work my way up the cargo line by getting something smaller then the hull series yet larger then the average freelancer plus its far more manoeuvrable and has a decent amount of fire power

something doesnt make sense here: Hull E: 153600 scu across 512 containers (counted from game model) = 300 scu/container Hull A: 75 scu across 32 containers = 2.34375 scu/container... The E containers must be a lot larger in terms of game world size or it wouldnt make any sense.

just load the hull e one with full fighter bays and use it as an aircraft carrier then jettison the aircraft hangars when all your fighters are dead and shorten and use the super speed of 10 tr13 engines

Will be interesting to see those screens on the side working too. Will Orgs be making ads to take up space on the Hull's screens? Or will they only be stationary pictures? Perhaps only manufacturers like RSI or Origin to begin with. Though they haul so much, they still seem quite fragile. Even the small ones without escort may be torn apart by (relatively) small blasts. Personally, if I'm rich in the 'verse and not a massive NPC manufacturing plant, I'd rather some Constellations or Freelancers taking my stuff with the extra security of an internal hold and the ability to defend themselves. Would only use a Hull E or similar to haul a few million UEC in socks or underwear, the sort of thing a retailer could move but that nobody else would really bother with.

May help you make some money (will need that money for the fuel on these things alone, let alone the cargo you need to buy to fill it). Although I think it would be funny to advertise a different Org on each screen. 4 screens on each 4 ends? 16 Org advertisements in one! Worst case scenario, you use them like some varieties of octopus or squid, flash enough colors to be scary and confusing, then run away.

xXXx illuminati xXXx The MISC Freelancers fall into multi roles ships where the Hull ships are pure cargo. If you only want to do cargo the Hall is a good option. If you want to do a bit for everything then the MISC.

Since the cargo is on the outside pirates know exactly where not to shoot just by looking. So maybe it won't really matter if it's protected by a sheet of metal.

MrDaffy78 Theoretically, you could shoot at the central support and break off some of the cargo while they continue on, then scoop up what survived. You only have money to gain, and it's not like the average pirate is going to be able to make off with much of the cargo from a MISC-C. Unless the pirates have some stealth fleet of MISC-B's waiting behind an asteroid to hoover it up :)

What properties do the shields have? Are they not able to reach out around the cargo even if they aren't covered by the hull plate? As with turrets, external weapon mounts and other things protruding.

Yes of course, but that doesn't mean someone can't take down your shields. Shields are generated in quadrants, so if they pour concentrated fire into the one side, they will collapse, at least temporarily, and allow them to blast cargo free of the moorings. I also wonder how feasible it would be to tractor cargo right out of the moorings, but I assume they're locked in place.

Allura Ambrose The freelancer max is a great ship. I would keep hold of it for now. You can always melt it in game if there is a better option.

Allura Ambrose Keep in mind the Freelancer will probably be faster/more maneuverable/better defended cargo than the MISC. A less picky pirate may also try to just shoot off a few containers from the cargo area while you run for your life and pick up the scraps. They won't be able to do that if you're in a Freelancer. And the MISC-C and larger won't be able to land on a planet, so if people want the cargo planetside, you'll either need something smaller to take it down or pay others to do it.

It's not very profitable to target a hull ship, they sell bulk that doesn't really cost much if you sell them in few amounts, you can't carry much unless you bring your own hull ship while pirating. Also the products would just go to waste if you open fire. So yea, not worth the risks.

Who says you have to steal the cargo? Just ask for a ransom otherwise you blow the cargo. If you ask for something reasonable, like 50% of profits, then you might just get it.

ModsMan32 Best get an A and decide later if you want to switch it into a B if you are undecided. Upgrade options will be available once the ships are Flight Ready. At that point you will have updated information and visuals about those ships too.

ModsMan32 I bought myself a B, for the extra bit of money you get a stupid amount of extra cargo. When it comes down to it though you should just go with whatever you feel comfortable spending money on. you could always buy an A and upgrade in game later on. The A has some serious cargo room too.

That is exactly why there will be NPC's almost in all ships in PU. People just are that way so they will troll and destroy your ship or might be working for pirates or then they just disconnect off the game when they are bored from watching static screen for few minutes.
