Hey guys, jumping in with an update after playing around a bit more in 3.14 - Components *definitely* affect your mass and acceleration in 3.14. You can get away with a single cooler and a powerplant. Those are the only components you should have equipped on your racing ship - A lot of ships have considerably higher acceleration in the *up* thruster direction (including the m50), meaning you'll be most efficient pulling up into turns and using up strafe. This also reduces visibility during turns, since pulling up into turns moves the TVI below the cockpit glass. This makes the most efficient turns particularly challenging. You'll still get your best turning efficiency using combined turns, as described in the video, but pulling up rather than pushing down into turns is the way to go! Good luck!

rarely do I hear anything on KZbin about star citizen that I can actually use in my meta, thank you dear sir! I'll be watching for more of this kind of content!

Great video! I'm not sure I'll ever be a race pilot, I'm more of a space scoundrel, but learning these techniques can be useful even if you don't fully master them.

How is it possible that this video has only 2,200 views and 154 likes (at this time)? The LIS videos are some of the most useful and well done instructional videos there are. Thanks for this and keep up the great work/content. Much appreciated.

Excellent video, thanks guys! I've been terrible at racing and you helped me figure out why.

I had a blast racing and dogfighting with a HOSAS setup I bought just for Star Citizen. Looking forward to getting back into it!

Vanderval in 1 minute is already quite an achievement, in full speed using the speedlimiter and SCM I get 1:20 without crashing in an M50. I can't imagine people getting that time after just a few tries

Just loaded up and tried today, best lap was the first lap at 2:36. I then took it slow to learn the map until met the same time. Tomorrow I'll give it another 7 laps of practice. Nice work on 1:20

Where are you in this video? Looks almost like a giant magma core.

Your m50 looks like it handles like a dream.. Mine refuses to do anything but straight lines.

I just crash lol. I'm used to Squadrons turning movement and I forget there's momentum and I cant pull a 180 kill shot lol

So it is even more like drifting than racing. I miss early AC racing.
@J0Goproxy3 жыл бұрын
could you describe how was it back then?
@rhadiem3 жыл бұрын
@@J0Goproxy things were more on rails, like you had traction making turns. You could still miss your line but it was much tighter flying than having to flip the ship to slow enough, or turn 90 degrees in order to get enough side thrust. The tracks really need to be remade to fit this sloppier maneuvering style. You can probably find a lot of racing videos from back then say 1.6 or so

When they add better atmospheric simulation with control surfaces, then racing is gonna change a whole lot again, perhaps more like how you described it.
