Thats a good question, but those missiles of the hostile craft looked a bit nasty. My question is why that ship doesn't have anti aircraft guns. The guns look like ship to ship guns and not anti small craft guns. I would expect bullets everywhere coming out of that ship not just a few big shots.

The Wing Commander lore is still pretty popular. I dont understand why thóse games were never revamped on modern engines. Wit hthe Graphical prowess nowadays, those games would be mind-blowing? A couple years ago the WC-community took it upon themselves to release a 'new WC-game', based on the Freespace Engine: Wing Commander Saga - the Darkest Dawn. A 55-mission game, which occurs during the same period as WC 3: Heart of the Tiger. Yet this is the story of the TCS Hermes, a frontline Carrier and its battlegroup, in the very thickest of it all, fighting some of thé hardest battles in the entire climax of the Kilrathi War. You play as a rookie pilot, David Markham, who barely finished his flight-training on the TCS Wellington, a Yorktown-class light Carrier(like the TCS Victory?), in the prologue of the game. As you evolve through the game, you fly a huge variety of spacecraft: the Hellcat, the Arrow, the Thunderbolt, the Longbow, and yes the legendary Excalibur! The buildup, the story, and the grand-finale are very good, and despite the graphics being a bit outdated, its a Free to Play download, and it is quite the experience. And as far as i know, this F2P release, developed by the community itself, is pretty popular. I'd name it, without any doubt, a real Wing Commander game! There's even a few good easter eggs, and 'confirmation', as you get to fly a mission to rendezvous the TCS Victory with the Fleet, and a mission with Hawk and Panther! Also the very last Confederation Class Dreadnought: the TCS Armageddon, a sistership of the Concordia...and more! If you liked the WC-games, and the lore, you're going to love WC Saga: The Darkest Dawn! Imho just shows how much love this lore still gets, and what Chris Roberts has been missing out on in developing this magnificent story and franchise by 'putting all his eggs into one little basket, with no backup'; the Star Citizen project thats been... too long awaited now? 10 years?...cmon.

I've recently been struck with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia for the original Wing Commander games. I remember feeling just unbridled joy and excitement while playing those games as a child and being completely captivated by the narrative. Damn EA for murdering every franchise it ever got its hands on, but hopefully Saga and SC PU will hold me over until Squadron 42 comes out!

@@DennisBLee Despite WC-Saga running on an older FS2 Engine, and the technology is a bit dated, its a pretty good game, dibs to the developers for that. It only 'misses' the famous WC-cutscenes then, but thats purely because it was developed by the community and not a gamedeveloper with a big studio and budget. Strangely enough, if you're playing it, it's actually a REAL Wing Commander-game! I'm sure that when you play it, you'll be right into it and experience the same. The whole story holds place during WC3 Heart of the Tiger, but it tells the story of Confed's most fabled carrier: the tCS Hermes, which is in the very thickest of the war during its climax: right there on the forefront, ditching it out with some of the most hardened Kilrathi battlegroups: a real Heroes story! Totally NOT in the shadow of Christopher Blair, in fact, if you've completed the game, you'll see how important the intense fighting of the Hermes' battlegroup has been to the war, and how Blair actually 'only' played 1 part in a vást tactical development, it was the Hermes that fought the hardest battles, it was the Hermes that suffered unimaginable losses, it was the Hermes that fought and won the most vital encounters... So, fabled and celebrated as Blair is, it was actually the Hermes that won the war! I found it a stunning experience, a very good story, and thus, a véry good game! If you like Wing Commander, WC Saga: the Darkest Dawn is an absolute must to play! It gives not only a different perspective of the climax of the Kilrathi war, it fills in a few important blanks in the whole ordeal!

People here are confusing Squadron 42 for Star Citizen... At the beginning of the current console generation, Chris Roberts said from the start that he won't rule out a console release, but he won't do it if he has to dumb down the game.. However that was for Star Citizen, and was said at the beginning of the life of PS4 and Xbox One so with those consoles in mind.. On the other hand, Squadron 42 is a single player game and will definitely release on next gen consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X, or maybe Xbox will use their infinitely deep pockets to get timed exclusive, or exclusive rights (that wouldn't surprise me because Squadron 42 would be a console seller)... As for saying it won't release.. The only people who say that just can't afford a gaming PC powerful enough to run SC so are salty..

brutus brutalis Chris Roberts is an established game developer with some EXCELLENT titles under his belt before the beginning of Cloud Imperium Games and Star Citizen. He’s got studios around the world, thousands of staff working on both games and tens of thousands of dedicated gamers currently playing, streaming and big testing everyday. CIG and by extension RSI have just fought off a lawsuit from CryTek, the studios behind the Crysis series, and that was based around Squadron 42. With the legal worries gone, and the financial expenditure of lawyers fighting to protect the game wrapping up, Chris Roberts can now actually talk about a genuine release for SQ42. It might not be beta’ing in the 4th Quarter 2020, but I reckoned it would be done and dusted by Q2 2021. Of course, this was all before COVID-19 showed it’s ugly Chinese head.

Albert Yeah, from a staff of thousands, massive resources to draw from and an experienced team from the get go. When Chris Roberts started out Star Citizen, he was in one office and probably a dozen devs. Now they’re in 4 Offices spread on 3 Continents and hundreds of staff now. But for 3-4 years they were a small business. So 7-8 years in Development for a massive company like Rockstar is a lot of work. 7-8 Years from Star Citizen, SQ42 and CIG, that was founded in 2010 and they’ve grown into what they are today is impressive considering they’re working on one game.

This trailer is for Squadron 42, the singleplayer campaign where you play a pilot in the UEE Navy fleet. In the multiplayer part you can crew any ship you want, including the huge carrier you see in this trailer, although you'll have to capture one first as it's fairly exclusive military hardware, you can't capture one alone, and you can't crew it alone either.

at this time most Devs can't even say they have a developers console for the 720. So they are probably contractually obligated to say "No we're not developing for the 720" until the NDA is lifted. This will be sometime after all the Hardware, Software Architecture, and Manufacturing details have been finalized.

The Star Citizen Trailer at timeline 3:23 clearly shows the Pilot inside ship saluting the crew chief with his left hand. Any Military Person understand that we never Salute an Officer with the left hand, it always the right. I guess it doesn't matter because its a game, but if an approximation to a Military Salute was intended, then it should be corrected in the trailer, since in real life, the act of saluting an Officer with the left hand comes across as offensive and a lack of Military discipline. Other that that, everything else looks good. Good Job!

I've programmed the XBox pipeline myself it uses DirectX and HLSL for GPU access. Porting to a next gen console isn't out of the question just because they don't want a publisher and want to push graphics. When the 720 is announced we will find out the truth.

Are you sure? Most nebulae would be made of Hydrogen, Helium, and whatever is left over from dead stars. Plus, I doubt it would help them get far at all, seeing as it takes massive amounts of fuel to reach near-light speed for travel, definitely more than collecting from any nebulae for years at a time...

All i can tell I was waiting for myself. So it's a room in Derelict exploration contract Seize The Data. It could have been better and could have been more like Lost In Space room where they play cards in the beginning. Lost In Space Fleet does not have warp drives, but with the help of the robot they can borrow their warp drive and after making a jump there is survivors waiting for them in a new galaxy.
