I tried the inferno out as part of the iae event and did some bounties in this, and one target was on the ground, so I just ended up doing gun runs until everything was dead. I feel like this is the A-10 of Star Citizen, 1000 rounds of ammo well spent.

I was getting bored with cargo trading, wanted a fighter, so a friendly player let me test his and another ship. I immediately felt how fun the inferno is to fly, and I was in awe of how BRRRRutal its gatling gun is. So I bought one, upgraded almost everything to military grade, put swapped 12 missiles to Thunderbolt III and 2x S5 EM. It’s a really fun ship!

I’ve not played since the XT-IFW mess of an update, where my Inferno was a steaming mess when it came to dealing with anything in a reasonable manner that needed a full count of bullets and missiles to deal with one HH at a time. I reinstalled for the first time since then and immediately heard the Inferno wasn’t as bad anymore and I’ve been on cloud nine since.

Def saving up for an Ion now for bounties. Always love sniping from far away with the connie and corsair but now in a smaller package!

It is like the Eclipse and Ion made a baby. It can take targets out faster than a Ion but not as fast as the Eclipse. The eclipse gives you 2-3 targets before rearm and the Inferno can be 4-6. The Ion can go 6+ before hydrogen runs low.

Did a final impulse buy this IAE, an Inferno. It's the very first fighter I ever purchased, and the only one (apart from the Ion) that I've ever been interested in. I usually only fly large ships, like the 600i, Corsair, 400i, Reclaimer, MSR. But I really, really like the Inferno. Shame it has no internal space, kinda wish it at least had space for a box or two if nothing else. But I know I'll be using this a lot in the years to come.

Great Video! May I ask how you set your ship to aim like it did? I don't know how to describe it, but when I fly mines, it does this slow delay thing where the ship catches up to where I'm pointing with my mouse and that really annoys me and i've never figured out how to change it.

@justanaverageviewer8142, Check your mouse Sensitivity settings under Option>>>>Controls. You can play with the "Pilot -VJoy - settings (Yaw, Pitch, deadzones, etc)" to see if your mouse controls respond better. Also, make sure you have all "look Ahead - Enabled" settings set to no under Options>>>>Game Settings. The last thing I can think of would be under keybinds>>>Advanced>>>Flight-Movement make sure you are using only the absolute (abs) settings for the mouse/keyboard.

VKB-Sim Space Gunfighter R VKB-Sim Space Gunfighter L VKB-T-Rudders GameGlass installed on Fire HD 10" Tablet Tobii Eye Tracker 5 You don't need this level of gear to play SC and can get very good results using two VKB-Gladiator NXT Joysticks (L&R) at a much lower price point.

@Jtaugner, It's not bad but will cost more than an energy-build ship, but you have the fun factor and TTK is faster.

Do you think the ares inferno/ion are the best solo ship right now to farm bounty hunting (vhrt/ert)? I want to invest in a fighter with the upcoming iae and the inferno BRRRRT looks so fun to use. Is the ammo a big problem?

@MakimKii, Ion is slightly better for the ERT's but both are fun and will work. The Inferno has enough ammo to get you through one mission before you need to re-arm.

Encountered an 890J in an ERT last night in my Inferno. Couldn't take it out with full gun ammo and missiles lol. Those 890 shields are ridiculous.

@Hylanvahr, Yep the 890 Jump is a tough nut to crack. The Ion should have the staying power to do it but it will take a long time, should be fun.

This is great news about the Ares accuracy… as for making money, that is now its own gameloop with Salvage that is REAL fast, and therefore frees up time and funds to play with all these other ships

@@Ez0X_reclaimer is best, but vulture is good too for making money. Go to personal tab and pick a contract. Go to the target and fracture immediately to complete the contract. Disintegrate and vacuum up and rinse, wash repeat.

In terms of price, it's close to the F8C, and believe me, the few extra dollars are much more worth it. With the F8C, you can actually engage in real dogfights and not just fight against the dull AI.

Not sure why everyone runs eclipse... Retaliator is the same ship x2 ammo. It does get boring though. Fly in, target, fire, target dead, jump to next... Inferno was a change of pace did most of the VHRT grind with it, but it becomes a similar thing... Fly in, missles at 3200m, gatling on final run, dead, jump out... I don't think there was a single VHRT that I had to turn around on... literally gat them on the way in after the missles and they are dead.

Also found that you can run about 10-12 VHRT's in an Inferno before needing a reload. I would always fire either 3 size III missles (total 12, so 4 targets) or 4 size II missiles (16, so 4 targets) which would give me 8 VHRT's that could be softened with missiles... if my target was a smaller target (I might get 1 or 2 of those out of 10) I would skip the missiles and run just guns.... at the end, 10 targets, out of missiles and usually 1/3 of my ammo still available.

I also ran the ION to stay out longer, but It wasn't better or faster. Between running out of missiles at the same pace to soften and more missed ion hits, also ION has to take shields out completely before it starts doing damage I found I wasn't necessarily more efficient with it... I did stay out once with it until I was bored, so if you absolutly hat going back to re-arm,,, ION can give you that. I do prefer the satisfaction of the Inferno personally.... brrrrrrr

@trevoC132, I agree with you that there is not much difference between the Ion and the Ares when it comes to completing the missions. Ion lets you stay out w/o a rearm, and Ares is more fun, they both get the job done. Is the Retaliator more efficient, sure!!! but not as much fun to fly after you have powered through 8 or more missions.

Ion is not capeable of bringing this group of enemys down. The laser is way to weak.
