I get the image of the peaceful version of the Ilwrath talk about and I see peaceful spider creatures building webs that double as musical instruments and attracting their prey with beautiful song, soothing them into peaceful oblivion and only taking what they need,. Woulda been cool to see something like that explored.

They'd probably destroy themselves as they were going to do so had the Ur-Quan not uplifted and drafted them I think after the whole Thraddash thing though they sort of became raiders and went crazy with cloaked bases

Funny you say that considering that the race they're heartlessly bullying and attempting to murder are also spiritualists, simply good-natured. It's more along the lines of dogmatic, imposing religions vs smaller, kinder religions. But I suppose you refuse to understand that people outside your point of view aren't always bad... much like many of the religions you detest.

Conversations with the Arilou, Orz, and Pkunk (who are always right) hint at a strange spirituality or the sense that the devs were playing with religion rather than being outright dismissive of it. The Pkunk said the Ilwrath used to be perfect but I think that perfection made them a very naive, rational, high trust, society that could be exploited by the Umgah who are the opposite of that.
