The English dub is good because it's cheesy and light-hearted in a charming way. Here they actually sound like they're in a life or death situation in the middle of an intense intergalactic war! You can even hear the fear and desperation in the voices of the bosses before they die! It's awesome but kind of scary.

Reading the Japanese while knowing basic Chinese is fascinating. Most of the writing is hiragana/katagana, which for me is completely unintelligible, but a lot of the kanji, although pronounced completely differently, is the same as Chinese. 作戰完了in both languages means mission accomplished, and 全機報告 also translates to "all ships report!"
@triplesixmafia5 жыл бұрын
That’s pretty interesting. There actually is a Chinese version of SF64 you may wanna check out. it was released onto a Chinese N64-style console called the iQue Player (it’s official Nintendo endorsed it). try looking up “star fox 64 iQue”. Then you've already gotten down part of the most challenging aspect of reading Japanese. Hiragana and Katakana are the first things taught and aren't that bad in comparison. Native children have until the end of high school to learn the 2,136 Kanji characters. If you were to study them, then you could probably do a good job keeping up with hearing what's being pronounced, even if you can't understand it.

@@Mrpastry909 I'm aware that the characters are pronounced differently, but the meanings are still the same as you said, and the surrounding hiragana can help determine which version of the word is spoken. It's so good watching a full gameplay of the Japanese version and relieving the voice acting

assuming you were living in the US or UK, you didn't have any issues with region locking? granted the only thing keeping you from running JP games on NTSC consoles and vice versa were some plastic notches, but I didn't think that was common knowledge at the time
@Ukiby30002 жыл бұрын
@@uglybad4 Actually, I live in Brazil and most Nintendo stuff here at the time was imported from the US, so while there was a region lock that wouldn't allow me to play the cartridge on my system, the rental shop had this "adapter" that they would rent out along with the Star Fox cartridge that allowed the game to be played on US systems. I was very young at the time (about 10-11) so I really can't tell you what that accessory was because I can't remember, but it was kinda like a "game genie" in the way it worked aka you would stick it on the console and then put the cartridge on top.

You can only 6 medals in 7 missions by going Corneria, Meteo, Fortuna, Sector X, Titania, Bolse, and Venom 1. Forget the medal in Venom 1 because there are not enough enemies in Venom 1 to score 200 or more points in Venom 1. The only medal you get in Venom is Venom 2, via Area 6. In Venom 2, each Star Wolf Team scores 51 points by destroying one each plus 23 points for destroying Andross in the second form. 204 plus 23 equals 227 points. Star Wolf Team have improved ships which make this a chaotic battle and save all 3 of your Star Fox Team, especially Slippy before encounter with Andross in the All-range battle. Venom 2 is entirely All-Range Mode.

Star Fox 64's dub isn't even that bad like at all. Quit being a weeb. This wasn't a simple language translation. They had to change things to be more western kid friendly. If this game was rated T or M, it probably would be more in line with this. Remember, it's a kid's game at the end of the day. Alot of these lines are dark, you wouldn't want this as a child.
