Star Fox 64 Lylat Reloaded: Venom Expert mode

Recently redid all of the character portraits and added in the ones from star fox zero. Decided to overlay sf zero's music as well for a more modern feel. The hud was redone from scratch using my partner's original one as a base. I will release these new edits on the n64 modding forums at a later time. The link to check up on this is n64-modding.dar...

I didn't know Lylat Reloaded was still being updated so recently! Very happy to see it! "Return to Corneria" was a good pick, probably the "hero time" music Zero's Venom obviously lacked.

I didn't know SF64 had a modding scene, last time I heard about this kind of stuff it sounded like nobody truly tried to dig deep into the game's code and ideally disassemble it to the very last bit... being proved wrong through your video is one pleasant surprise, thank you!

I highly recommend checking out modloader64 if you're interested in the potential of N64 modding. My team never went beyond simple texture replacements, but Ocarina of time, Mario 64, and banjo kazooie have pretty healthy modding scenes these days.

Amazing work! Looks brilliant (although I do think the Venom I music is better, even if it sounds out-dated). I've been thinking of hacking Star Fox 64 recently. But not to improve the graphics, instead to change the level designs (i.e. where enemies spawn and things like that). Not sure how difficult it would be. I'll have a look through the forum you put in the description.

we attempted to do some in depth rom editing with star fox 64 but unfortunately it has a massively complex checksum. When editing the rom if it's even one byte over the original size it refuses to boot.

In order to get not so easy medal in Venom 1 in Expert mode, just follow Slippy on the first three paths on the left, then go right then follow Falco on the remaining paths since there are more enemies in Falco's path then on Slippy's path. NOTE: There are more enemies in Expert game mode then the normal game mode so getting a medal in Venom 1 is a little easier. It is impossible to get a medal in Venom 1 in normal game mode and cannot get 200 points needed for a medal.

Dr. Nefarious, follow Peppy on the right path, then follow Falco on the second and third on left, then take the right to follow Peppy again, that is the best way to rack up points to destroy all the enemies by using a bomb or use the charged up laser shots and locked to the enemy to take them down for a mass of points in order to get a medal on Venom 1. Venom 1, like Venom 2 is a required 200 points to get a medal.

That was a total bullet hell. Like what it was to be expected in Venom. Sadly that's the easy route. If this was the easy I don't want to imagine what is of Area 6 and the face off against Star Wolf.

You're likely thinking of venom II which is reached by following the red (hard) path. Where Andross transforms into a disembodied brain, and you have an escape sequence following James. Expert mode is just a harder version of main game where you lose your wing in one hit, take 30% more damage, and deal about 20% less damage yourself. There are also altered enemy placements, but that's about it.

Venom II is All Range Mode and have to deal with all 4 Star Wolf Team with their improved ships. When shot down it is worth 51 points each. When all Star Wolf Team are shot down, then Star Fox will challenge Andross in two forms instead of one in Venom I. When Star Fox defeated Andross in two forms in the 360 degrees arena, then Fox's father, James McCloud will help Fox out of Venom by using the right paths randomly and join any one, two, or all three of the Star Fox Team, depending on the character's health.

It is impossible to get a medal in Venom 1, via Bolse. The only way to get a medal is in Venom 2, via Area 6. In Venom 1, there is not enough kill points, even if you try shooting almost all the enemies that are afront of you and coming from behind you to get 200 kill points on this level.

Wrong. It is more than possible to get even more than 200 HITs in VENOM 1 and get a medal. That only happens in the 3DS version. And in Venom 1 there are A LOT of hit points, you just suck

Dr. Nefarious, just follow Falco on selected paths, since there are more enemies which drop bombs when defeated, and there plenty of it, but use them wisely. When following Falco, use a few bombs to destroy mass of enemies for lot of kill points in order to get a medal on Venom 1. Remember bombs does not harm any allies, such as Falco and Slippy, only laser shot can hurt your allies. My highest score is 201 points in Venom 1. Make sure you have a full supply of bombs (9 is the maximum capacity) when entering Venom 1, via Bolse on the easy path, and make sure to have Falco, Slippy, and Peppy alive when completing the mission.

@@davidtosh7200 Bombs? Use the brake and charged shots bruh. My highest score is 307 HITS on Venom 1 in Expert Mode and 290 HITs in the normal mode. I have proof of it, if you wanna see it, I'll upload it
