@@justaregularguy3827 Not only that, but Starfox Zero basically wrote out the entire Adventure game. On their way to Corneria they make mention of leaving Suarian. @@Tienhamir100 No idea what the two of you are on about. Adventures was a completely different property, Dinosaur Planet, before at the last second Miyamoto came in and told Rare to slap Starfox on it. Considering the loads of unused content pertaining to the old story, and how out-of-nowhere the Andross fight comes, + The Microsoft buyout looming in the horizon at the time, it's most likely they just didn't have time nor enough reason to care about giving him a final fight anymore when Andross was gonna upstage him and they were busy enough throwing in all the Starfox content.

It's super jarring going straight from the 64 Andross fight to this one. In Star Fox 64, Andross's face is very animated, expressive, and he's always tracking you with his eyes. Here, aside from his initial roar, he literally just stares into space while mouth-breathing, which makes his attacks feel very nonchalant.

General Scales is similar to Zant from Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Both tyrannical beings were given power after they (or in Scales case his tribe) were denied it, by the previously defeated main antagonists on their respective series. Both are used as pawns for their masters resurrection who return just after they meet their downfall. The main difference however is you get to kick Zants ass, while Andross betrays and kills Scales for you forcing you to fight him instead. Another difference is that Zant is clearly aware of Ganondorf and even hints that he returned during his battle with Link, Scales on the other hand ironically (as shown here) is totally unaware of Andross despite serving/being associated with him.

Well, Unlike General Scales, who's just a murderous power-hungry tyrant, Some of Zant's actions are realistically screwed, like in Lakebed when he treats Midna as an object, such as where he whispers "I need you..." into her ear with his mouth while she's unable to move, and even says "My Midna," is likely a portrayal of sexual predation, which is pretty messed up, even by Nintendo Standards.

Two things. First, what the hell's up with Andross's voice? Was his old voice actor unavailable? Second...I know this has been said multiple times, but the "fight" with Scales was a huge disappointment. If you were going to reintroduce Andross you could have had us fight Scales halfway throughout the game, and THEN bring in Andross. Imo, Andross isn't a villain you just throw in at the last minute, I feel like he deserves more respect than that. They could've revealed his nature as the main villain, have us go through several more stages in space this time (and much longer ones too) and then fight him. But, seeing as how this wasn't even meant to BE a Starfox game in the first place, I guess my expectations are set too high....

I gotta say, after playing through this game in one sitting recently (you do some crazy shit when your net goes out...), I've gotta say, this game was... Really not as bad as everyone says it is. Sure, it didn't live up to the potential it should have had as either a proper Star Fox game or as its original incarnation as Dinosaur Planet, but as something that happened, it's still perfectly playable. Ground combat is fine, space combat is fun and intense at times, and the graphics are still nice to look at to this day. My only real, personal complaint was how easy it all felt. Wasn't enough hard difficulty to be had, even with Andross. It felt rushed at parts, no thanks to Rare's looming buyout at the time of development, there's some goofy dialogue and some hammy voice acting on top of that, and a curious fixation on the now-sexualized Krystal character (thanks, Rare) which causes some scenes to teeter on the fine line between humorous and awkward. Even in light of that, however, it's certainly a unique specimen, unlike any Star Fox game I've played... in a good way, oddly enough. The lack of focus on the flying sections made me look forward to them all the more, and value their presence in the game, even if they were there just to break up the gameplay for the sake of variety. In fact, I played Assault and 64 a day after, and felt myself becoming fatigued after a while with the constant, non-stop action. I know it's a matter of opinion, but I found myself enjoying the action in Adventures more, due to its pacing. Not to mention Dragon Rock, which was a whole action section in and of itself, going back to basics with the whole _"shoot the fuck out of everything that moves"_ gameplay Star Fox is known for, yet everyone seems to forget exists. Not to mention the pretty awesome King Red Eye boss, which plays host to some of the more memorable sequences in the game while having a nice touch of Jurassic Park to it at points. It may not be the game everyone hoped for, but it is what it is. It ain't perfect, it may not be traditional, but hell, it's far from the worst game out there, and even in light of its squandered potential, it's not impossible to enjoy it, even in an environment as pessimistic as the gaming community. *EDIT:* I loved the music in this game, too, personally. ;)

MrSnakearter let me tell you something at least you had a boss i know some games that are worse and did not have a boss like mass effect 3 and some halo's and alien: colonial marines, the boss was just there to look pretty, sure general scales was to do that but the twist ending is what really caught my eyes, hey i thought i defeated Andross in the last game Starfox 64, oh well he's back now and the level of difficulty as a child it is what made me think that starfox adventures deserved at least an 8 out of 10

I know the details from Rare buyout and all. But from the time they were given i think they did an awesome job. They were rushed but still gave a decent suprise ending. When i first played this i was in shock when Andross appeared. It was like i was thrown back into starfox 64 with a serious shooting and equipment disadvantage, and i loved it! I was sweating and had chills as i battled Andross he was the LAST character i had expected to see. SO with all the drama going on i think they took what they had and STILL nailed it on a good final surprise, boss. He was NOT as easy as this video makes him seem lol.

I love how Andross' Boss Theme for this game is a combined heavily-altered remix of his Standard and Brain form themes from Star Fox 64. David Wise did a phenomenal job adapting them. It's a tragedy that Scales didn't get a proper boss fight after he was established as the central narrative antagonist of the game, but the fact that this game had to rush through the final stages of development before Microsoft bought them out (to hear it from the team, when Shigeru inquired if they were interested in turning Dinosaur Planet into a Star Fox game, they were gung-ho on the idea, but due to the amount of reworking required, they decided to move development from the soon-to-be-discontinued N64 over to the GameCube. About a year later, Microsoft approached with an offer Nintendo couldn't afford to counter in buying out Rare completely, which forced an artificial deadline on the game) is a perfectly understandable reason why. It's apparent in the fact that the Microsoft buyout was literally completed the day after Adventures released.

I do think this game is underrated, but I absolutely love how laughably bad this fight is. Not only would it be impossible for Andross's appearance to feel any more forced, but his voice acting would embarrass Arnold Schwarzenegger and his writing makes him out to just be some generic cartoon villain. I mean seriously, who thought the line "And now, to destroy the Lylat System!" was okay? With the combination of horrible writing and even worse delivery, this whole fight just rockets itself into "so bad it's good" territory.
