Recently got my hands on mint box sets of Alpha Dawn and Night Hawks. Very much looking forward to playing this classic again after so many years. Now, if i could only find some of these minis at a good price. Loving you SF videos! keep em coming!

I only ever found the Spacefarers box. Knew nothing about painting miniatures. I just put a gray undercoat on them and nothing else, didn't attempt to paint them. The trick is to exaggerate light and shadow because they are small, the same trick you use to make actors look better to distant spectators!

The Spacefarers set is actually the best inside even though the cover art leaves a bit to be desired

i've never heard of starfrontiers before this video but if this game allows for homebrew like d&d does, you could have just made something up about why your vrusks were blue. for example, they could be a sub-race of vrusk that is short lived but better for battle or have a special ability the players haven't seen yet

Ironically I did have similar house rules about ethnic strains (always looking for diversity) so you're right, I could have just explained away my error that way

It's actually good you removed them from the boxes as the paper and card board may contribute to lead rot, an affliction that affects Star Frontiers minis unless they were the ones sold at Sears which required better quality lead. It's also good that you covered them in paint as this helps seal off the lead from environmental acid which causes lead rot.

Great series! I have most of those and actually bought a couple sets of the starships. Which brings me to needing to point out that yours look good but beware that there's a condition that can effect the SF minis over time. I know the starship lead had this problem but have heard some of the other figures to it to but it's been tagged as "lead-rot" and it has the minis essentially 'breaking down' with what looks like 'lead mold' though it doesn't happen to all of them if it gets into a box it will end up eating all of them and so far as I know even cleaning them and priming them won't stop it once it starts. Weird but there it is.

Thanks Randy! I think I know what you mean, my ships are unpainted and look like some kind of lead "moss" is growing on them. Any way to prevent it?

Apparently lead minis, along with electronics and game books, don't like being immersed in sea water. Who knew :) ) Hope it helps.

Oh yeah there's a bunch ... picked up a few in bluster packs (don't have the packs anymore) before these boxed. Nothing close to D&D figs though.

@@DowntheRabbitHole0 Weird thing is that I think I stumbled accross some TSR GAMMA WORLD minis, TSR kept very quiet about their minis that they released, they;re rare items.

@@DowntheRabbitHole0 If you go to the WargameVault you can get .STL files for 3d printers for Star Frontiers, I just looked this second and could find the starships for the game. I bought a Mars Elegoo Pro 3d resin printer the other week. may even give it a go printing them out !
