It's also important to note that Rocket is very concerned for Quill in this scene. He really doesn't want Peter to die. While he doesn't like showing it in Guardians 1 and most of 2, he really does care about the team, and comes to love them as family very quickly. He just doesn't know how to express it and fears losing them. In Guardians 3, we learn that the friends he has as a child died in front of him and he blames himself for getting them killed, hence why he fears attachment to others, for fear that they'd die too and he'd experience the pain of losing his friends all over again. Granted, he _does_ experience that pain over and over again with original Groot, Yondu, Gamora, and almost the whole team but Nebula later on, but most of them were brought back to life.

It would be awesome if Gamora would save Peter same way like this in Guardians Of The Galaxy vol 3. But sadly we have lost our this main Gamora in Infinity War. The new Gamora wouldn't be able to do this as she don't have any memory and feelings for Peter. But what we finally got in the film that was very touching too.

I expected to see this in the third part, it seemed like a missed opportunity. They could have done a scene where Gamora is alone on the ship and looks at Quill's things. For example, listening to an audio recording of a team conversation where the rescue from the first part is discussed, in the section “Do not delete Quill’s important recordings.” Gamora in the third part knew Quill as little as he did in the first part. Nevertheless, he saved her. This way she would know that he is a good guy and worth saving. Now it looks logical.

At the beggining of the movie, Quill as a child had a black eye cuz he had a fight with some kids because they killed a innocent frog, that scene was meant to tell us that Quill always had a heart, and even as a criminal he still has a Heart all these years later, one of the rare instances of the MCU setting up Character Arcs, Quill neglected his heart all those years until this movie kicked in

I think that's because in prison Rocket protected Quill a lot cuz he meant to collect on his Bounty, it's easier to do that job if they just become friends until escaping, but then Quill convinced Rocket to drop the Bounty

I recently learned from this book I bought with my dad and read from the Barnes and Noble Annex, Guardians of the Galaxy Creating Marvel’s Spacefaring Superheroes that in the original Guardians of the Galaxy comics from Marvel, that Gamora was never Star-Lord’s girlfriend and love interest to begin with, Star-Lord’s girlfriend and ex-financee was Kitty Pyrde who had not yet appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but appeared in the comics and animated series. I hope that in the upcoming Star-Lord solo adventure for the Marvel Cinematic Universe foreshadowed at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2017) it will focus on Star-Lord after finally getting over Gamora and moving on from her, forms a new romantic relationship with Kitty Pyrde like in the comics but will be Star-Lord’s girlfriend and future wife that he will have kids with and not ex-financee like in the comics. Don’t you agree? I also hope that the Marvel Cinematic Universe also gets a spin-off series focusing on the adventures of Rocket Racoon and Groot before they joined the Guardians of the Galaxy in the 2014 film. Don’t you also agree?

@Neiseika he's still half celestial. When your parents die you dont just stop being human. He was using ego's core to conjure things but he still has the genetics of a celestial. Hypothetically if he were alive long enough he would be able to do that stuff on his own. The benefits of ego's core are just gone, and as ego said "if I don't return to the planet this form will wither and perish". There seems to be some connection to that and living for thousands of years, at least for peter who is of course part human as well.

Well if it makes sense for any franchise to do it, it's the one that's constantly traveling around the galaxy. One was to save Gamora and build trust in the team, one was to save Quill and reinforce his story of family, and one was to save his music which is just kind of badass imagery for the trilogy, so I don't mind it

I mean, can you blame him though? His mother died in front of him, his father was a genocidal egomaniac who killed his mother, and his adoptive father sacrificed himself so Quill could live. So having experienced as much loss as he has, punching Thanos made sense once he found out the woman he loved was killed, even though it was his own plan he screwed up. And to be fair, it probably wouldn’t have worked in the long run because Thanos likely would’ve gotten the gauntlet back, and no one else was powerful enough to use it against him without dying. Even without the gauntlet, he was still immune to most attacks and difficult, if not impossible to kill by normal means.
