Was this the last year and corps to use mylar?

@@srtyler the cavaliers used mylar for the first half of the 2010 show i believe. Although not very good sounding. Probably because no company is putting any resources into developing a quality mylar head. I used Remo powerstroke 77s for my high school program for a couple of seasons in 04/05, but running was such a nightmare. So many hours of double hooping, constant cranking, all to achieve B- sound and having to replace every couple of days anyway. Not worth it. If they still made these Premier marathon heads, i would probably still use them.

My line in HS used Marathons with Pearl snares from ‘90-‘92, then switched to Falams when Premier stopped making the version of the head with the “lightning bolt-style” logo. I remember halfway through our season we got a new order of Marathons and they were noticeably softer feeling, muffled, and “squeaky”, like Premier had changed the film material when they did the logo change. They also refused to “crisp up” no matter what our staff did to them, and our staff were all Bluecoats guys who had marched with them previously and knew the heads well. It was sad to see them go, but the Falams were great heads, too. I definitely preferred the Marathons to PowerStokes or Silver Dots, that’s for sure. They were pretty much the pinnacle of Mylar for quite awhile.
