Yes! Been a long time since anything new was announced for us diehard Star Realms players. Awesome work, Sam. This is basically what they did with Hero Realms, they added quests. A perfect start also for those who are just hearing about this game is a huge bonus. I'm so buying this.. ;) Champions of Midgard best worker placement game, I agree. :D

The retail version does not contain counters or anything. I found this an ok game in general - it did not play short for me solo. Now so many years later - solo is so much more important (not mentioned here really at all) but I'd call out the large amount of content for solo - it's fairly pick up and go but going against an opponent where you are managing their cards as well.

Great review Sam! I backed the kickstarter and it came with several other great cards that were not in that box. I prefer Star Realms over Hero Realms but to each their own. Which challenge do you enjoy the most? I have yet to try any of the new ones.

Hi! I don't own any Star Realms decks. I am looking for a co-op game, and this one seemed interesting. From what I've read, this expansion is the only content that supports co-op. If I start with Star Realms: Frontiers, can I then use the other (older) available content as part of my co-op game? Or will it then switch the nature of it to competitive?

Nice review ... did you say there was beginner, inter, and expert level? I like the game, the only problem i had is starting off with all the baby viper, etc beginning ... we modified it to not start with those cards to dive right into the meaty/fun cards.

Star Realms is a great game but Blob are way too powerful for Trade Fed and Star Empire in this set. There low cost ships having so much usage in both early and late game makes them OP combined with their new early game bases which they lacked in star realms. Trade Fed used to be the anti-blob strat and control the trade row but picking them now is just a ticket to getting your star cards scrapped out the trade row or even simply purchased by blob just like in Colony Wars. Star Empire are getting better but the bases dont compare to the early speed advantage they got from Recycling station and space station. Machine Cult will as usual always be the best faction but Nanobot swarm is the only new thing they have which rivals blobs upgrades. Why can't outposts be bigger than 6 defence if ships get up to 13 combat now. The fact an allied 1 cost blob ship can kill an 8 cost base is Blob power creep with nothing done to balance it out. Disappointed with the thought put into the base cards in this set even though the bosses look fun.

Nope. It just seems that way because that's the faction that provides high damage outputs.

i think the game is very balanced, ive won with all factions. My brother had me down to 1 health and he had 30 and was using blobs. I was able to stabilize with outposts and ended up beating him.

Bob's well balanced for the game in Colony Wars and Str Realms base set imo, however it looks like there's a bunch of overpowered blob cards in Frontiers relative to their cost. Honestly a bunch of cards for all factions here seem overpowered relative to their cost. I haven't actually played frontiers yet so I don't know, maybe the game is well balanced overall, but it seems like games would be over at a fast pace in this new set.
