The point is we stand and die on our feet not on our knees an 100s of Patriots die held the flag up for a day an night the truth is yes that flag went dawn doing every hit but because so much smoke the British did not see after the smoke clear the flag was being hold up by 20 or 30 men but I think of 24hours over 100 men die all holding that flag until there was dead.. So never kneel against that flag or your jusy Surender that FLAG to all that hate an your not a American Patriort. It's nice I bet if someone could show this True HISTORY about our National American Anthem history I bet those that Thart so bad about our nation or was the Wones that kneel against the flag will be so move an will never allow that FLAG to fall an will stand proudly an as American Patriots will stand for this Nation FIRST an now know the truth will be change for ever.. I wish in a baseball game or football or NASCAR or Hockey game or a event is happing with so many people to have this story live an I know all would just stop doing what ever an watch this in silent an I bet when all is hearing this first time will start tearing up then in the end when it's singing comes on I bet u will see all American PATRIOTS rise an Stand up Proud just listing the song I bet then all that will change how they feel about this nation an be truly American Citzens Patriots and be proud to be it... GOD BLIST THIS NATION AGAIN..

During the Obama admin it was starting to get bad. I was mentoring high school students that were having difficulty in school during my limited time off and some of those teachers in my old high school tried blocking me from entering the school not because I might be a security risk but because they had issue with my USN dress blue and summer working white uniform worn by all officers in the USN today.

Gentlemen this story is very true. It happened during the War of 1812. It is well documented. The actual flag is under glass on display. It's HUGE! Many of our anthems and hymns are written from personal experiences. They give tours of the Fort McHenry where this battle took place. It is very true. Sadly, hardly any of our American history is taught accurately in our schools. You should check out pictures on line of this Fort and the flag. 😊

We need a strong military today in order to protect those freedoms that especially the younger generation doesn't respect, or value. You never know what you have until it's gone, after all. And we will NOT let it go! The American people will fight, even if it means fighting our own government and military. That's why we have our 2A right. I disagree, and so does anyone that kneels or genuflects to anything. It is a respectful gesture and a plea to the brothers and sisters of America to be seen. I think its a beautiful American act, and I SEE IT. No one chose to turn their back, they chose to kneel. If it is a call to defend the certain and unalienable rights, then we need to answer that call.

This goes back to the War of 1812, when we were fighting the British. Francis Scott Key wrote it as a poem first. Written on the back of an envelope as he watched the bombing of Ft. McHenry by British ships. It became known as The Battle of Baltimore. The flag in the song is the flag that flew over Ft. McHenry, and it was still standing after the battle was over and the British retreated. Every elementary school kid in Baltimore has been to Ft. McHenry on a school trip. It's a National Monument and Historic Site now, and you can still visit.

@Chuck4TNvols actually the British were retaliating after American forces stormed across your border to the north with British North America. Your Gov declared war against Britain to stop the impressment of US sailors into the British navy and to stop the naval blockade of American shipments to France. The burning of your White House and Atlanta was in direct response to the burning of Niagara and York in Upper Canada. American ass was kicked from the northern border down to Atlanta and the British were not stopped until the battle of New Orleans. By that time a peace treaty had already been signed. God bless the greatest country of all time. Your country of America from a Canadian who loves the USA!!
@chuck4tnvols681
@chuck4tnvols681 Жыл бұрын
@@Webber105 First off,you need a history lesson on the cause for the War of 1812.The two leading causes of the war were the British Orders-in-Council, which limited American trade with Europe, and impressment, the Royal Navy's practice of taking seamen from American merchant vessels to fill out the crews of its own chronically undermanned warships.We didn't have a Governor,we had a President of our United States.same as we do now,and on June 17, 1812, the Senate approved a House-passed resolution declaring war with Great Britain, with three amendments, by a vote of 19-13. President James Madison signed it into law the following day.The British were seizing merchant ships,that is one of the aggressions which resulted in the act of war declared by our Senate and signed by the the President and on December 24, 1814, the Treaty of Ghent officially ended the War of 1812, but the delayed news couldn't stop nearly 1,000 British troops from being killed at the Battle of New Orleans.We declared war for good reason and it was mainly the aggression their massive Navy that even gave reason for the war.The burning of Atlanta never happened in the war of 1812,it was burned down duiring the Civil War in 1864 after the Union had pretty much cut off all the South's supply line and had basically won the war,still decided to burn or destroy everything from Atlanta to Savannah.The Union victory in the largest battle of the Atlanta Campaign led to the capture of that critical Confederate city and opened the door for Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman's most famous operation-the March to the Sea and the capture of Savannah.This is all history,good with the bad,no one now is to blame for our ancestors decisions.What makes the USA so great is the fact we won't take any nonsense or aggression from anyone,that is the only thing that all Americans have in common with our fore fathers.God Bless The USA!

In the USMC, over the 8 years I spent in active duty, we were trained to have the utmost respect for that flag. Always rendering a salute, never allowing the colors to touch the ground and presenting all fallen veterans' families with a folded flag for the service their loved one paid to their country. Amazing how much disrespect is shown to that flag. To all my patriots who still stand with their hand over their hearts when this song is played and to all my fellow Marines, Semper Fi.

My American military husband brought me to America. I didn't speak English, but in time I taught myself. When I understood the words to the American Anthem, I cried over the bravery of those patriots. Knowing they would get killed holding the Flag up, they help it up proudly. They had no desire to live under British rule. The courage it took made me cry. I still cry every time I heat it. I hold my right hand over my heart and cry. To me it's the most beautiful song. I salute all military personal past and present. Thank you America for allowing me to live here in this awesome country. God bless America and my homeland Germany. I will always respect the Flag and the American law. I'm a proud Texan now.

My Uncle a US Marine met his wife a Korean woman while on his way back to the United States from a tour in Vietnam as a Force Recon Marine and on his stop in Korea he saw this beautiful young 19 year old girl and he was 21 and he fell in love lol. They married and he promised her he would come back to get her and she believed him and he kept his word. When he returned however long it was they married and came back to America and they’ve been married to this day. She learned to speak English and she became a citizen and my aunt is the funniest person you will ever meet and she was so proud when she became a United States Citizen. I am 51 and learned this in American history as a kid. It actually happened. We learned how the song was written after this also. It is 💯. That is why we stand for our pledge and cover our hearts to recite it, why we sing our anthem and why our flag is to NEVER touch the ground. Those people died for freedom from oppression; religious and otherwise. We stood together as a nation. In these times, we really need that again, not to be divided. I wish people could wake up and see that. Everyone deserves to be equal, healthy and happy.

Yes, the story is true! I actually wrote a term paper about it for American History. A lot of people now point to the 2nd verse where he mentions slaves. But you have to know your history! He wasn't talked about ACTUAL slaves, as many of them were fighting for the US also. He was calling the citizens who were loyal to England "slaves". Because they preferred to be ruled by a King than to be free! I actually get emotional every time that I hear this song. So glad that y'all took the time to learn the REAL meaning of the words! I am well-versed in its history and lyrics. The third verse of the anthem contains lyrics that have been interpreted as alluding to slavery: "And where is that band who so vauntingly swore, That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion A home and a Country should leave us no more? Their blood has washed out their foul footstep's pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave." The phrase "the hireling and slave" is believed by some historians to refer to the British use of African American slaves as soldiers during the War of 1812. The British forces offered freedom to slaves who joined their ranks, which was a common practice by the British at the time. This offer led to tensions and concerns among American slave owners, who feared that their slaves might join the British forces. Wish they would have won then no ignorant negroes

The Star Spangled Banner was written here in Bmore. I grew up about 10 minutes from Ft. McHenry. So I've heard this story so many times in school and on field trips to Ft. McHenry. The Anthem has 4 stanzas. Here is the whole song: Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight, O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream: ‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave! And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion, A home and a country should leave us no more! Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave! Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war’s desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.” And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

To be fair, way back then people were more willing to give their lives for a cause because they felt it was an honor to die giving other men hope. I can easily believe that men died holding up that flag. Today it might not happen because men don’t think the way we thought hundreds of years ago….. we worry about things that effect individuals feelings about THEMSELVES not things that effect all individuals AS A GROUP as well as individuals in generations to come. Back then, men died for freedom instead of a paycheck. These men LITERALLY died to keep that flag going. This is ALSO WHY we have a tradition that the American flag must never touch the ground.

This War was Great Britain vs. the United States of America. 3) Francis Scott Key wrote this song, based on his personal experience. It wasn’t written about his story by someone else. 4) It was during this War when the British burned the White House. Although it was rebuilt and repaired, there are still burned Timbers in the White House walls.

Just learned this yesterday and I cried. I have been out of school 35 years and never heard this story it just shows how long they silenced this meaning. And how they made us not care about it. I love this video and glad you guys got to watch it too!!

This was the War of 1812, and it did happen this way. If we'd have lost that confict, we would have been Canada, and bowing to the Queen, or whoever.
