honestly, i hate the direction they're trying to go in turning star stable into a mobile game. there are windows that tell you to tap and drag instead of clicking even on pc, and it overall feels more corporate rather than friendly and fun. i still look at the bottom of my screen to check my xp because it made sense, and having it under the player name now also somewhat makes sense but it's much harder to see and having two xp bars in the same area makes the corner of the screen feel cluttered instead of spacing everything out. overall, the old one may have looked less 'clean' to the eyes, but everything was so much more self-explanatory and the placements felt like they belonged

I agree, trying to make a mobile game out of SSO was a weird move and while I'm happy more people can experience the game, I hope they focus more on the pc version since it's what they started the game on. You're right, the current one doesn't feel user friendly, and definitely more corporate vibes! I really want to see them add more personality back to the main UI. The older UI was more fun AND user friendly! I kinda hope they make it so when your mouse is over the XP bars you can see them, but they aren't there when you move your mouse away. I think this would maybe help with it feeling less cluttered in that corner, like when your horse is level 15, you don't see the XP bar anymore.

I disagree, having player exp in the top left corner is very much a standard placing across games, making the top corner the place to check for it. It could be less bulky I agree but having the exp on the bottom was clunky.

I'm convinced that they wanna turn Star stable into a game for ipad kids 😩 the HUMONGOUS buttons in the Esc menu throw me off so much

I'm hoping they realize turning SSO into a game for iPad kids would be an awful idea. Maybe it's because I usually play on my laptop but my experience with mobile was awful.

@@haydenpolarmountain Mobile is horrible. I try avoiding mobile players bc their tech can’t handle the game very well. My new friend on Night Star crashed like 8 times the other day, the server worked for everyone else. By the time we got ready to meet up she’d crash. That, over and over. Waste of time. It’s too expensive to go mobile anyway!

I actually really like the beige/brown ui. It really gives me major Moorland vibes which is so nostalgic for me. Like the wood and the beige buttons with the pink highlights. It's soo good.

I understand that the ui needed to be updated, the game was changing and a ui change isn’t always bad. What frustrates me about it is how sso cant choose one ui and stick to it. You can’t have multiple different color palettes for all the ui in one game, it just looks so unfinished and odd. Im also personally not fond of the brown and beige as a color choice, it doesn’t feel like a horse game targeted to young girls, it doesn’t give star stable to me

I honestly wish they'd go for a blue UI reminiscent of the first UI, but with a modern take like you mentioned at the start of the video. Star Stable is starting to look really bland purely to be on mobile...

Ty! It's hard to adjust to some of the big changes they've done, especially when it doesn't make sense. The new UI was really weird when I started playing again last year. Maybe in the future they could add some easter eggs to remind us of the past or for their birthday update add the season games to the website like the Starshine legacy ones!

@@haydenpolarmountain with SSO losing money lately I don't think they will prioritize the older community especially because they have not had older players in mind before that either, it's very sad to see all of this happen. I used to love this game and I hope I will get to in the future somehow but I rlly don't think it will change for the better anymore.😔

Yea, they haven't been smart with their money. They have started to listen to the community more lately, with the surveys, maybe they will start making changes this year. I don't think they will focus on older player anytime soon, like you said. It's sad because a lot of people grew up playing this game (myself included).

I think star stable would save itself a lot of harm if it allowed players some more customization. If we could choose between 1st, 2nd, or 3rd UI, everyone gets to enjoy the game their own way. Yeah it's a super huge job, but honestly if they want the praise they're trying so hard for, it'd be a worthwhile job. Another solution (similar to what you mentioned) just having 1 UI design, but instead of remaking literally *everything* when they're only supposed to be *updating* they would keep a shit ton of players happy. I've watched them for years and years butcher Updated areas, characters, etc, because they're literally remaking instead of updating. They are better off leaving this gam,e alone and creating a whole new one.

THISS!! I hope for the remaining areas that they haven't updated yet, they keep the style of the area the same. For example Jarlaheim, keeping the castle/walls of the city, and just updating the look of it. For the UI, someone else commented in a blog post they (SSO) are working on a customizable UI design. So hopefully there are plenty of options so people can get a UI they will enjoy!

Love the video! Returning back to the game after more than five years has been an experience and the UIs sure didn't help, even less so considering there's three 😅 All around I must agree with your points, as much as I miss the good old blue one it wouldn't be as practical for mobile players. At least it's not fully gone yet. So, so glad I could navigate at least a few things after coming back 😂 I will however forever miss our little phone. Oh the little ring it made... I love how you show on screen exactly what you're talking about! From the different sso UIs to the one from the Barbie game, I could easily follow along and knew what you were pointing out and referencing. I find a lot of sso videos have great voiceovers but unfortunately little to no references shown, which makes it harder to understand. It's refreshing being able to follow along! The little notification sound with every picture is also very cute, but I find it a tad too loud at times- not too much, but after it sounds in a fast succession it distracts a bit from the speech- thought I'd let you know 😅 Love how you constructed your thoughts and even added your own suggestions! Keep up the good work ❤

Ty!! Returning to any game after a few years makes it a challenge to relearn everything that's been updated. The original UI was so personalized and I really want them to recapture that feeling, hopefully the little phone can make a return because I miss it too! Thank you for the video feedback! I take notes when I'm watching videos to notice what kind of editing I like and what keeps me watching, so photo references are a must!!! I'll keep the sound in mind when I'm editing the next video.

What I absolutely hate about the new ui is that it tends to cover up the whole screen. Previously I could have multiple tabs open while controling my character and with so many of the new ui, I cant do that anymore. Also the ui for the mobile version is unuseable most of the time :/

I'm not a big fan of the UI that covers the whole screen too. The closet for example, I struggle to see how my outfit looks on my character and it's so frustrating. I rarely play on mobile, the times I have, I didn't like the UI.

Yesss, the UI/graphical inconsistencies have been bugging me for a long time as well. It ruins the immersion in the game if nothing looks consistent. There are NPC models literally from the original Star Stable seasonal games, and so many areas that have been half updated. Your videos are very high quality and well edited, wishing you all the best for your channel!

We need a mix between the first and second UI. Keep the simplification and spaciousness of the second one, reintroduce the original color scheme and map/XP bar position. The third UI needs to be thrown in a pit of fire.

besides the inconsistencies i actually don't hate the ui that much. hopefully this year in 2025 they focus on making it more consistent - having your wardrobe open with the new look, then opening your character sheet .. it just bothers me 🥲 like why couldn't we have updated it all at once. and of course being used to the translucent blue then opening esc and getting hit with the random beige/brown. it's a lil weird and makes the game feel tacky lolll

This is such a great and well thought out idea! ❤ I love the old starstable UI but I know they need to develop and the new one is certainly not very inviting, it doesn't give me the same cozy feel. But with some warmer, earthier colors like brown, that resemble wood, it would definitely stay smilier to the first UI yet with a modern vibe! The real question is... where did the phone in the corner goo? How am I gonna call my home stable without a phone? 😂

Old sso had a soul and something unique to it. Now it looks and feels like any other game, but with horses. I'd be happy if they tried to mix the new modern look with the og one. And I strongly agree with people who said this multiple styled ui looks unfinished. Did the team had an issue and couldn't decide so they went with both or what?😂 Still, I hope they will give us a chance to change our name, I've been playing for 9 years and I want to see my real name, or at least a name I like. I accidentally pressed "accept" instead of "randomize" like a clever 13 would back in the day. Now I'm stuck with Kate Sleepybard😂 I love how easy it is now to choose a name you like, but I'm sad I don't have the option to edit like that. Many other players have the same issue with their names.

I agree, they are missing the uniqueness that old sso had. They said they were working on a name changer in a blog post. I might be wrong on that though. I think it's taking them longer to release a name changer because our names are our identification for our account, or something like that, I don't know the term for it lol. I think once they figure it out, it'll be like the character customization feature where we got a coupon that was a one time use. Kate Sleepybard gives old sso vibes, I love it! The weird combos that you get for names is so funny.

I'm sure it's not that easy especially because it might cause some issues, like multiple players choosing the same name and whatnot, but I really want to change it now😂 I'm glad you like it, indeed it's a bit nostalgic but since I've started playing wow, I use Mightymoon for every game, I'd love to have it as my last name❤️ Unfortunately as of right now, it's taken with my real name, though I have other options like Nicole, that's somewhat similar to Nikoletta.

It's gonna be interesting to see how they figure out players with the same name, I can see that being an issue/bug. I like having the same name in other games too! I was lucky when I was a kid I got Starmountain as my last name (Randomized). I lost that account but now, I always name my character's last name mountain. Unfortunately Heidi isn't a first name option, I wish it was. Mightymoon is a cool last name! Hopefully you can get the name you want when the name changes happen!🤍

I wanted something moon related because I was obsessed with Princess Luna from My Little Pony as a child and I still like her design😂 Hayden is such a pretty name though, reminds me of Hayden Panettiere, one of my favourite actresses.
