Yes, thank you ENTERPRISENX01 for giving me the opportunity to see these intros and learn (even for a knowledgeable TOS fan) some new background info.

"The Squire Of Gothos" was the first episode I ever saw - but because I was on holiday the following week, "Arena" turned out to be the final episode I saw for the first time! When I started collecting these videos, I got volumes 1.6 & 1.7 first because most of the episodes on them I hadn't recorded off the TV - "Arena" was the only one I had got already, but it's such a good episode that I didn't have any problem getting it twice! I did some thinking last year, about the production and airdate orders of the episodes. I know that they were still making the later episodes while the earlier ones were already airing, but I got to thinking, if I'd had the whole first season in the can and ready to air, which would I have opened with? I eventually decided on "A Taste Of Armageddon" for a multitude of reasons: 1. It's a very good episode 2. It's a relatively normal sort of episode 3. It gives the main characters their moments (Kirk, Spock and Scotty at least) 4. It's a good representation of the show's philosophy

ARENA, TOMORROW IS YESTERDAY and A TASTE OF ARMAGEDDON are very good. Takei is very good as describing all the info.

"The decision was almost taken to cut our losses and scrap the episode. Instead, some idiot decided to keep filming this garbage anyway, and we're all worse off for it."

Wow, Roddy McDowell could have been in ST:TOS! I can easily see him in the role. As much as I love McDowell, Campbell was great as Trelaine.
