The reason the Valdore class look like Klingon bird's of prey from the ToS movie/TNG era is because those ships were originally supposed to be Romulan (hence why they look like an evolution of the Romulan bird of prey ships from ToS). The villains of ST3 were changed from Romulans to Klingons during a script rewrite but the ship model had already been built and so was simply made to look dirtier (but the distinctive Romulan bird of prey feathers under the wings are still clearly visible).

If I remember rightly that bit was a simulation. In one of the early TNG episodes some alien kidnapped Riker, and put him through a simulated future in which he was captain of the Enterprise, and Picard was working on alliance negotiations with the Romulan Star Empire. One background thing in this simulation was that Cardassians, and Ferengi, had apparently joined the Federation, and were serving in StarFleet

@sean I've subscribed, selected ALL for notifications... yet, it's very infrequent that I even get notified of your most recent video?! Typically I have to go digging through KZbin to find the most recent video - like I did today. Is that a KZbin issue ? Or something on TrekCulture?
