Little trivia for y'all: The Starfleet vs Borg fleet battle in this cinematic was actually how the First Contact movie Borg battle was supposed to be. The Borg was to come with a whole fleet instead of a single cube and the bouncing torpedo you see the Akira class fires in the cinematic was the new quantum torpedo that was to turn the tide of battle. They cut it all because of budget constraints but you can still read it from the original script they had that you can find on the internet.

That's cool! Akiras were always my favorite starfleet warship. The one special weapon that is laughable in terms of every being in a movie is the duplication that the nebula can do. Though it's hilarious to see and try to take seriously.

The chain reaction pulsar. They nerfed it for the sequel because it was apparently OP. This was part of the action 2000's route they wanted to steer Trek in (Picard as action hero) but by then the actors were getting tired of doing it. Patrick Stewart later would only return if Picard had any meaning development which he says he wanted to close his story 20 years later, Brent Spiner was getting tired of playing Data and wanted to end his story. Both stories eventually were revisited later in Picard series to give it a send off (even though I don't like that series in particular). The movies also were severely cash strapped also, CGI cost a ton back then to do and to add to that Star Trek has a stupid amount of animatronics that a lot of it was talking, some action sequences, some clever ship fights like Scimitar battle. Nemesis flopped though and that was the end of that Trek era. First Contact meant closure on the Borg stuff but that movie was successful.

How'd your fanfic go, dude? I should point out though that the Federation doesn't need any fancy tricks to best the Galactic Empire. The Empire's ships are hideously slow at sublight, and whilst an ISD arguably has comparable firepower and endurance to Federation capital ships, its weapons are so short-ranged and inaccurate that the Federation ship would have to obligingly sit rock-still at almost literal spitting distance for the ISD to have a chance. If they did what the USS Phoenix did in TNG: The Wounded and slung photon torpedoes at the ISD from 200,000 km away, the ISD wouldn't even be able to return fire. And the fighters are absolutely laughable, to the point where I often imagine a Federation captain beaming all of the pilots from the _unshielded_ TIEs approaching his vessel directly to his cargo bay (since there'd be too many to fit in the brig) as a show of dominance in an effort to convince the ISD's captain to surrender.

Same here! The later missions in A1 got pretty goofy -- sloppy as A2's conclusion was, I thought it was far better than A1 after the first few acts -- but A1 was definitely better. Individual ships actually counted for something. In A2, there was little point in building all but the heaviest ships en masse, with the occasional ship with "special abilities." Even then, it seemed he who built the most heavy-hitting craft (Negh'Vars, D'Deridexii, Sovereigns, Keldons, 8 combiner Tac Cubes and I can't even remember the S8472 equivalents) the fastest would win. Superweapons could play a part, but in my experience, they'd just delay the inevitable ... sometimes, they'd turn the tide long enough for the Romulans or Klingons to rebuild and offer a solid second round of resistance, but against hordes of top-notch Federation craft, several dozen of those mega-cubes or tons of Undine ships ... eh, like I was about to say: valiant are they who refuse surrender, even if they prove tomorrow's tender vittles :)

still better graphics than mass effect andromeda... Bioware what happened 2 u? you look like ea games forcing the release of a new version of every game every year, bringing only new bugs every time... love St Armada by the way...

looks good but... come the fuck on... the borg would have made "qagh" that federation fleet, sadly :(
@jacksimpson85293 жыл бұрын
In all fairness, the Borg being as strong as they are in the TV series (before Voyager nerfed the shit out of them) would make playing as them hilariously easy and playing AGAINST them impossibly hard, because all it takes is one or two Cubes and you can decimate a full Fed fleet. That said, I WOULD recommend playing the STA 3 Mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. The Borg are a lot tougher in that mod and one Cube can decimate a whole fleet. Here's a video link for proof. Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6K7hJ2YZa-kqKc

@@jacksimpson8529 In Armada 2 you could do that with a Fusion Cube or better yet, a Tactical Fusion Cube! 😁

I liked 2 better. People hate the bum rush warp but Star Trek isn't trek without the warp.
