Kirk trying to drive was the funniest part of this episode. I think at one point they're about to go somewhere and Spock looks at Kirk and says "must we, Captain?"

So, if this episode was aired in 1968, it was depicting an era 4 decades earlier, and the equivalent now would be going back to the era of “Boogie Nights”. Suddenly, I feel very old.

@@spacesciencelabhis is from back when studios kept actual costumes and pre-designed plots around for any common availability they may have. I’d love to see some of the classic “plots” remade in a museum style execution be it virtual, model or something you could actually walk around. Practical effects and the carpentry/trade/work of the golden age TV hold up remarkably well even when upscales or colourised like many of these shows have been over time.

Two points, one museum's on Earth had automobiles, especially Duesenbergs, Kirk was from a small town in Iowa.

That car hovered and had many modern conveniences such as a telecomunications device and probably gps....this had an old fashioned clutch...Jim as a kid prolly didn't know how to use a clutch....or drive a really old car back from the 1920's

If I had to choose between the original version or the reboot version of Star Trek, with all due regard my vote is for the original version and not the reboot one.
