I think because the Ferengi are so comical, people forget that their ships are actually not something to laugh at. Even Picard called the Marauder's an "impressive design." Great battle!

I’ve balanced the Marauder to be about equal to an ambassador class or Klingon vor’cha. This puts it in the heavy cruiser category but it can’t fight the ‘big boys’ (nebula, galaxy or d’deridex) on equal terms.

They may seem comical, but it's part of the reason they haven't been overrun by other powers. No one really believes the Ferengi Alliance to be a threat. They have no history of interplanetary wars. Being resourceful traders, they obtain goods and services their neighbors consume and don't mind the profit margins enough to go to battle over. Through trading and their own abilities, they pack attack cruiser strengths into something that looks like an unimposing freighter.

i really wanted to see more ferengi ships like this during the ds9 dominion war. i think it would have been funny if the grand nagus showed up with 20 or so of these ships right after the dominion surrendered, and gave the federation a bill for services rendered. 😀

It would have been nice, I don't think the Marauder appeared at all in DS9?

LOL Ferengi in fleet combat? Yeah... they'd either get in the way, or turn tail and run as soon as they lost their first ship. And probably not make much of a difference. If competently commanded in battle, Marauders are no joke though. Emphasis on 'competently'. XD

That was entertaining! May I make a request? A Borg sphere (tactical, if the game has it) vs a small Klingon task force of some sort. Maybe two B'rels and a K'Tinga? Whatever matchup would make a fun but fair fight.
