Another great video thank you. After seeing you struggling to join the saucer section to the stardrive, I realised that the top phaser emitter on the battle bridge section would not slip in to the mating section on the saucer section. This is because unlike some of the smaller phaser emitters this one is not spring loaded. I used a bit of petroleum jelly to lubricate the phaser emitter on the star drive and it clicked in without any problems, who knew all you need it was a bit of lubrication. I didn't use any lubrication on the docking latches. I hope this helps anyone else trying to connect the two.

I have just finished fitting those wedges. I am glad I watched your video first! I covered everything with masking tape to avoid what happened to you because it was an absolute nightmare trying to get those bloody wedges to fit. The top ones were easy but those small rear ones were so fiddly and frustrating. Took me two hours with lots of swearing and some broken nails but finally got them fitted. Whoever designed this was an imbecile and has no idea of how to design a model of this size and weight. I ended up using a blunt tool and forced them into place, it’s incredible just how much force was needed. Looking forward to the next issue to finally complete this build, it looks great as long as you don’t look too closely😁

I’d been planning to put some 2inch square clear acrylic ledges/mini floating shelves for the saucer to rest on at the front and sides will glue them in place with some very strong super glue,plastic screws if needed

I just ordered 2 clear plastic rolling pins to support the saucer. no way the original stand would support this, even my version will bend.

I’ve only got the top half done and I can feel the weight,think they’d have been better making the saucer less die cast in places and maybe put more in the stardrive,with the scratch i guess if your not displaying separately and you don’t have ocd which will bug you the scratch won’t matter to much in the long run,I’m wondering how easy it is to separate again,I think 6 months time I’ll be at issue 30 myself I’ve addressed a lot of light bleed and got that hull section in a bit more I don’t think they cut the 2 screw grooves deep enough so I filled down a bit more and it’s closer now

Glad to see you finishing this up. I quit after stage 50. I just couldn't continue after seeing all the awful problems with this kit. I didn't feel justified that we should have to do so many corrections and modifications on a model that ends up costing over $2,000. I'm glad you finished but I'm really glad I quit.

@@outsider238 if there was something else out there between this and the original AMT version I’d get that but as Ralph has said on occasion there is nothing like this out there at the moment,yes the design needed thinking through much better than they did especially the saucer weight,should have balanced the overall ship weight evenly defused all the blue nacelle parts not just the back semi circle and most definitely a better way of lighting it,so many people have done a better job with a cheap set of strip lights and some electrical knowledge to make it light up better

@Makeitso2023 I'm hoping that Tomy will come out with a large scale, diecast metal version of the D. Their TOS Enterprise was really excellent (besides the screw holes which I'm hoping they learned their lesson on that) and was only $600 which was an excellent price considering the whole thing was diecast metal and fully working lights along with a bridge and shuttle bay and shuttles.

Those wedges look a nightmare to fit, glad I watched your video first. Really it does sum up this build watching you struggle to fit the wedges and attach the saucer. Do you think it will be easy to remove the saucer or is it a really tight fit.

tight fit, but its not a perfect one. I may try again with just the neck section.

I should have quit this build ages ago. If I had seen this video earlier, I would have! It's ridiculous having to spend that amount of effort to join those two sections of the ship.

I was gutted for you when the scratch happened but it won't be seen and I'm sure you can touch it up if it's bothering you. Have you any plans for the next project after this is completed?

Im doing things with a stack load of eaglemoss models, but i have no plans yet for a part build. I would love to do Thunderbird 2.
