Imo it took 7 years to get Kira's look right. And as soon as she put that Starfleet uniform on, that was it.

Here's a prospect I had never considered before. What if Section 31 always intended to release the cure to the Founder plague? I mean... if the founders had died, that wouldn't have been the end of the war. Because what would have happened next is the vorta and jem'hadar would have just gone into a murderous rage and glass every world they saw. At a bare minimum S31 would have recognised that as a possibility. On the other hand if they have a cure in their back pocket then they can turn around and say "Soooo.... That plague you have... Turns out we have a cure... You can have it... Ifbyou play nice..."

Commenting in snippets as I watch on my phone while having a very slow day at Dominos. Will edit repeatedly. Blinding Dukat is not stupid, because the Pagh Wraiths want a future in which the Kai of all people brought down the reign of the Celestial Temple. Thus she has to be the one to advance their plan. When she waffled and Dukat stepped up in her place, that would not yield the desired future. So blinding him would motivate her to embrace the delusion that she is special and cherished and the only one worthy to bring about the glorious future. Thus getting the scheme back on course, with the certainty in advance that once she got with the program, Dukat would be willing to step back into his place, with his sight restored. Also, remember the cameo from "O'Brien" in the Homefront/Paradise Lost story. The Founders were already on Earth, at least one of them. Section 31 anticipated this. And gambled that shaping the narrative of Odo's security drills at Starfleet Command would nudge him and his people toward reaching out to each other. They infected Odo at the same time they encouraged him to link with his people. Not in the blind hope that maybe someday he might. And after the reveal of the Quickening, of course Section 31 saw the Dominion as a top tier threat to the Federation's ideals. Also, there are three separate mentions of there being more than one proper Founder in the Alpha Quadrant, so it would not have been only Salome Jens's character to get infected, but that is a nitpick.

As much as I love this final chapter, I think this episode and the next did quite a disservice to Gowron's character.

I wish Dukat’s blinding had been his first real insight (pun intended) into what the Pah Wraiths truly are. And then he attempted to sabotage them, and was the reason they were delayed until Sisko could stop them.

Louis Fletcher was quite good in this episode, especially when she kicks Dukat out at the end. I think he was blinded because the Pa Wraiths never told him everything as to how far reaching their goals are for the galaxy, so he had to be put on hold until the other patsy was ready.

That's not how security clearance works Bashir. Even if Sisko has Sigma 9 clearance he is not entitled to information that is not relevant to his work in the war effort. Everything is itemized in a way, Sisko gets encryption codes and fleet movement reports; he does not get briefing notes from the admiralty, R&D reports or medical info just because it's all Sigma 9.

Given a bureaucracy a meaningful individual or group can stonewall very effectively. It was a lesson I learned from several years when I did government IT work. Section 31 doing the virus when they did make sense to me for one particular combinations of reason. In "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" This year complains to Sloane that the current war isn't over and they're already planning next, a criticism Sloan doesn't deny and refuse to argue. Assuming section 31 had sized up the dominions activities in the gamma quadrant the virus makes an amount of sense

It really would have been better if Winn had been the big bad. Also the Changeling disease really reminds me of the Spartan II paradox in Halo.

You idea about Dukat being redeemed and Winn becoming 'The Devil' is intriguing. It may well have improved that moment. I actually quite liked the whole Dukat/Winn/Pagh Wraith plot, but the resolution felt very weak.

Lore loves dukat for some strange reason. If anything I see Kai Winn as the complicated character who tried to do right but the prophets turned her evil.

Yeah, the Dominion.. some of the best of Trek while at the same time being some of the worst of Trek where we try to ignore it's very obvious smell cause they are just so darn cool and entertaining. The actors and the individual strength of the plots make it work, so long as we don't try to think to much about it. BUT THE ACTORS AND THE PLOTS DO MAKE IT WORK, so there is substance to enjoy! And I enjoy them A LOT!

No redemption for Dukat. My opinion that Dukat whole arc the last 2 seasons has been Sisko's opposite. Remember the line from Dukat speaking to Weyoun was you do not kill your enemy you need first to prove to them you were right and they were wrong and then kill them. Wynn has much as disliked and hated, but more along the lines trying to gain everyone respect and power within Bajor. She was ambitious, power hungry and weak minded. I think Dukat preyed on Wynn and turned her through her ambition and feeling she is not loved by the prophets because they never speak to her no matter what she does in their name. Though Wynn was a villian I felt sorry for her at that moment. I think that is the saddest thing to see and feel is when one loses faith. At the end and I do not think she tried redeem herself, I think that was more self perseveration. For me Wynn was true follower of the prophets. When she speaking to Kira and explains while resistance were hiding in the hills doing hit and run strikes against the Cardassians that she was beaten and imprisoned by the Cardassians for preaching of the prophets. Also, as mentions to Dukat a couple of Ep back that she arrange a transport to re-routed to save Bajorian lives.

10:56: Lore is not an Starcraft 2 player. Many a superior force has been wiped by move commanding instead of a-moving. Plus, APM economy; micro your macro. I do not like the idea of Damar having to apologize for Ziyal. It would run counter to the whole collaborator issue, because Ziyal was working for his enemies. If it was wrong for him to kill Ziyal then, it would be wrong for him to kill collaborators now. This is probably something better explored between Garrack and Kira.

Kira does indeed look great in the Starfleet uniform. As do Seven and Deanna when they finally start wearing them. Almost like the provocative outfits were kinda tasteless and unnecessary
