I specialise in elevator sensor technology There are senors that could prevent hazard in closing doors and open when a person is near It can be an easy install too

can these sensors be added to arduino? or would you add them using a different method? that is exactly what i want to do

Make sure your air lines from the splitter to the rams is the exact same length and the doors will synchronize.

What you need are Room Exit or REX sensors. They’re designed for exactly this.

Benjamin - this is what I was looking for for my own project. I cant find a source of long throw air rams like the ones you used. Can you provide a link?
@BenjaminNelsonX5 жыл бұрын
I got these at a science and surplus store. You can generally buy them at industrial suppliers, but they get expensive. A surplus place is probably the best bet. Remember, you can also use a lever/gearing/other simple machines to change the distance an air cylinder could push or pull. Try a place like www.surpluscenter.com/Air-Pneumatics/Air-Cylinders-Motors/ and see what's currently available.

@@BenjaminNelsonX Thanks! Will follow your suggestions. I did eventually find something similar - but as you say - prices .... :-O Regards Alan T.

That is neat. I would think pressing the button manually till it opens each time would get old and thus make fixing it a priority. I would lean towards two infrared distance sensors (one on each side.) Then when something gets closer than say 2 feet on either side it can auto open and stay open till the object is gone for a few seconds. Should be interesting to see what solution you guys come up with :-)

Hook up a light sensor to make to work

For the door sensor, you need something not triggered by the door itself moving. So body heat (PIR) or some sort of laser beam detection. Company I've come across most likely to know how to do this, sell electronics (kits and premade) for puzzle/paintball/escape rooms. I'm sure they could figure out what would work best. www.engineeringshock.com And does have a youtube channel kzbin.infovideos

A PIR sensor could be a good choice, couple it with a 5 second timer to close after the heat source has gone away and you're good to go. You can still use the existing buttons to override the sensor if you need to carry a lot through the door or want it to keep shut say you're working next to it.

I used two cylinders with adjustable cushions and speed adjustments. I am not sure how you did your pneumatics but I used a TEE to two regulaters for each cylinder (regulated to 50 lbs) so i could get the same movement out of both cylinders. It seemed to work well. I am using Smartthings Motion sensors with a smartplug to turn on a relay to do the switching. This video shows the operation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpTYfXRmjbBnnc0 This video explains things: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYTSc5iEd86KfJY If you dont use the regulators and the TEE the cylinder closest to the air compressor will always win.
