Star Trek: DS9 [Second Sight - Ft. Clay]

Wow, that was a great rendition of the Enterprise theme song. I'm impressed and I'd rather listen to that on a loop for 45 minutes than watch Second Sight again. I watched the episode a couple of weeks ago and until I started listening to the podcast I'd forgotten it completely. Sadly it marks the start of a four episode run of less than stellar episodes.

6:00 the way I've heard Brooks' limitations described is that, every actor who has been cast as a captain on a Star Trek show can demand a sandwich like the survival of the ship/station's life depends on it, but they can also dial it down to a friendly and personal "hey can you get me a sandwich? Great". Brooks can't do that, he's always got a tense tone to his acting even when he's supposed to be feeling emotions besides Frustration and Annoyance.

I struggle to see the applications of jump starting a dead star. If the star died, then all the planets have long since frozen over and their atmospheres destroyed.

It can be a slow drag through these first couple of seasons. I don't start watching nearly every episode until season 4. Though season 3 is a big improvement on the first two.

Well 3 years later and we're not talking about the Shape of Water anymore, good call Wes. God this episode is boring, Quark didn't even indirectly kill someone!

At the end of this episode as Nidell (Salli Elise Richardson) go away from Sisko, does Sisko is looking her ass or is my imagination? ! 😉

Re watched and felt like a next gen episode, i dont think sisko is good with women until casidy yates, i guess shes finished with sisco though as shes chief medical officer on the uss orville now. ooh and dont forget you get episodes with his mirror universe wife coming up :P

I can see what the intent of the episode was, but DS9 is still struggling to establish any story for Sisko. When the show started I really didn't like the Emissary concept (I was raised a Catholic and I find most attempts in SF to feature religion as ham-fisted, completely obvious and misguided - see where 'What You Leave Behind' brought all this to) and while Brooks is an engaging and capable actor, Sisko is probably the least well developed lead character in the franchise by this point. Kira essentially was the lead character from season 2 to 3 and the writers increasingly seemed to know what to do with her and what stories to feature her in. Sisko seems to just get the 'we'd better cook something up for our lead actor every so often' scripts.
