I liked this about "Enterprise". They had to build up their technology. It's too bad they never got into the Romulan war.
@bigedslobotomy4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, they were too busy with the Xindi story arch to do much else. It WOULD have been interesting to explore the relationship with the Romulans and Klingons rather than veering off into the "temporal cold war" thing. Also, relations with other species could have been more fully explored as Enterprise ventured out into the galaxy, learning as they went.
@QuartuvLarry4 жыл бұрын
That...KINDA happened with the Andorians...
@biocapsule73113 жыл бұрын
@@bigedslobotomy I think that was kind of the point. I think the original plan was to introduce the 'temporal cold war' with the Xindi, then go into the Romulans, Klingons and the formation of the Federation with the cold war being the backdrop of how the relationship between species are manipulated. But the Xindi story arc wasn't popular so the whole cold war was dropped or at least halted. Consider how important the formative years of the Federation were, there is no way it was 'untouched' by the cold war. I think the cold war was suppose to last into the formative years of the Federation.

Actually it was one of the worst parts. They really shouldn't have had phasers (yes, those are phasers even if they call them phase cannons...they look, sound and act exactly the same as TNG phasers) and certainly not photon torpedos that early on. Sticking with laser weapons and fusion missiles/torpedos would have been far more accurate and frankly, more interesting to watch.

compmanio36 . A musket sounds like a rifle. But a rifle is still superior to a musket.
@WaveForceful7 жыл бұрын
No they are not Phasers...Phasers are powerful, highly modular directed particle weapons that fire Nadion particles, they come in many shapes and sizes and have many different effect, even can be reconfigured to emit various radiation types Phase cannons are not, they are simply particle cannons that have a variable yield, that more or less it. The ENT ep, In a mirror darkly shows the difference between Phasers and phase cannons. Vulcan and Andorian particle weapons were far more powerful. The anti matter torpedoes that NX-01 got later are precursors to photons..Photons were far more powerful, much more accurate and could be modified again to produce a variety of effects. The NX-01's anti matter torps peaked at about 50 megatons each, Photons from Kirks era and beyond had planet cracking power. the NX-01 was the precursor to all Federation ships.
@gajzvonimirlopac61066 жыл бұрын
WaveForceful I think Voyager or TOS mentioned that humanity had anti-matter bombs during the 21st century, and used them in WW3. The NX-01 must simply be using the same thing, only adapted for space combat.

Reception for "Star Trek: Enterprise" Season 1 episode 12 "Silent Enemy": Out of all the Star Trek episodes he has written, André Bormanis named this as one of his favorites. He cited the fact that the episode does not clarify the aliens' motivations as his "favorite aspect of the story." [4] While working as an executive producer on Enterprise, Brannon Braga found this episode turned out well. In retrospect, he commented, "I thought [it] was kind of a good episode. I really felt the crew facing some unknown thing that was kind of scary." ("To Boldly Go: Launching Enterprise, Part III: First Flight", ENT Season 1 Blu-ray special features) This episode achieved a Nielsen rating of 3.7 and was watched by an average of 6.11 million viewers. [5] Star Trek Magazine's "Ultimate Guide" rated this episode 3 out of 5 arrowhead insignias. (Star Trek Magazine issue 164, p. 78) The unofficial reference book Beyond the Final Frontier (p. 363) comments about this episode, "When you hear Archer say he doesn't really know Reed, it's almost impossible not to hear the writers sitting around a table saying the same thing. We find out a bit more about the tactical officer in this episode, which is unremarkable but watchable."

This species origins are largely unknown. They were first encountered by the Earth starship Enterprise in September 2151, when an Elachi ship hounded them for several days before being driven off. Amongst the Romulans, there were stories of miners that operated past the Eridan Belt who discovered alien beacons of unknown origins. Furthermore, they encountered alien beings that moved past their outposts magnetic barriers and scan the miners before disappearing. However, little was known of these mysterious aliens except that the beacons left behind referred to them as the Elachi. Despite a Romulan presence on such worlds, the creators of the beacons never appeared and the encounters with the creatures were dismissed as paranoia. Colonel Hakeev of the Tal Shiar forged an alliance with the Elachi to further his plans following the destruction of Romulus in 2387. In January 2409 the Elachi began to systematically attack independent Romulan colony worlds including Virinat, Crateris, and Delta Corvi. The colonies themselves were destroyed, and the inhabitants abducted for then-unknown reasons. The attacks were assisted by the Tal Shiar, including Hakeev who personally oversaw the destruction of Virinat aboard his flagship, I.R.W. Khnial. ( “Virinat, Invaded”, “Crossroads at Crateris”, “Cloak and Dagger”) The Elachi also assisted the Tal Shiar in their efforts to thwart the fledgling Romulan Republic, concealing warbirds in the Khitomer System and helping Hakeev develop new indoctrination methods to boost "recruitment" at bases such as Installation 18. They also attacked Republic bases such as Rh'Ihho Station and the Tephrei System. ( “Turning Point”, “Installation 18”, “Abducted”, “Last Stand”) Midway through the year, an RRF officer posing as a Tal Shiar agent learned from Taris that the Elachi were a servitor race of the Iconians, an ancient race planning to invade the Milky Way after hiding in the Andromeda Galaxy for 200,000 years. The Elachi served as the Iconians' proxies in Romulan space, working to undermine the Republic and prevent unified resistance when the invasion came. ( “Revelation”, “Taris”) Weeks later, a warbird crew managed to capture a S'golth Escort (nicknamed Target Alpha) and use it to infiltrate Station Alpha, the Elachi base of operations, in subspace. There they discovered the purpose of the abductions: the Elachi were using the captives as breeding stock to create more soldiers. The crew managed to destroy the station, and shortly after thwarted a vengeful assault on New Romulus with the help of a Republic/Starfleet/KDF fleet. The surviving Elachi retreated back into subspace, beaten for now. ( “Turnabout”, “Devil's Choice”) Following the accidental reactivation of the Iconian gateway network later that year, another Elachi invasion force emerged from subspace in the Jouret System to take control of a gateway located there. The Elachi were repulsed by another joint fleet. ( “Sphere of Influence”) In 2410, another Elachi base was located in subspace, this time accessed from the Delta Quadrant. An away team led by the crew of the R.R.W. Lleiset boarded the station and recovered a number of humanoid captives, as well as Empress Sela (who had been captured by the Iconians the previous year). The station was eventually taken by the Republic and held for study. ( “What's Left Behind”)

Shroomies is the name of the species in this episode 🙂 A bipedal species, from an unknown star system. This species and their technology were unknown even to the Vulcan database. They chased Enterprise NX-01 in September 2151, and did not respond to hails. Then they returned several other times, causing significant damage. During one attack, this species activated a dampening field, while two of its crew boarded Enterprise. They were fired at by Captain Archer, but a phase-pistol he carried had no effect and they soon left. (ENT: "Silent Enemy")

Some more info about the species in this episode and excuse me for repeating about them 🙁 Apocrypha See also: "Shroomie" starship The Star Trek: Enterprise novel A Choice of Futures interprets the Shroomies as the mute inhabitants of Gamma Vertis IV mentioned in the Star Trek: The Original Series third season episode "The Empath". They are referred to as Mutes and Vertians. Star Trek Online identifies this species as the "Elachi" - they play a large role in the storyline for Romulan Republic players, carrying out abductions and attacks on the Romulans. Later, during the "Iconian War" storyline, they are shown to be allied with the Iconians as a "servitor" species alongside the solanogen-based lifeforms encountered in TNG: "Schisms" (identified in-game as the "Solanae"). In the "Awakening" storyline, players learn that the Elachi are native to the mycelial network. Players work alongside friendly Elachi, JahSepp, and a holographic recreation of Astromycologist Paul Stamets to prevent time-displaced House of Mo'Kai forces from using the network to power a superweapon.

@@RetrievingSearain lmao...its Canon and the ship is called an S'gloth escort. Star Trek Online is canon and is the last pillar of the old franchise. It contains all the original actors as their own characters and contains everything Canon-related. Theyre also in collab with pretty much all the shows.

Why did the aliens opt to hail Enterprise with an image of Archer and his words gathered from their earlier communication with them? It was quite odd but also cheeky of them to do, to demand that they surrender with Archer's image and voice.

This would have felt more urgent and threatening if they had actually done anything but sit there, waiting for the pink meat bags to argue, question orders, then have a moment of science, more doubts, some shouting, finally 'yes, sir'...THEN push some buttons, wait for the phasers to actually fire, then wait some more for scanning, talking and the torpedo order, button pressing, loading of the tubes, torpedoes firing until they hit. Enterprise seems to be run as a democracy (for some reason) with the most 'military man' always being the first to question any ordery. Are the Aliens using Windows OS? And they dont even have the excuse of being surprised, or out-teched, or at a tactical disadvantage of any kind! ENT has some great episodes. This was not one of them.

i always assumed it was a test by some other race to make sure enterprise was ready to enter deep space as a war vessel, say the klingons or the vulcans making sure humans would survive and make a worthy space faring race to ally with or battle in the future or battle alongside against a common threat... say the romulans or some sort of undead cyborge army/navy of drones that like assimilate and encorporate other species and cultures into thier necro tech empire

@@txrwauy, that's what a lot of people say _now_ , but back in the day, they all hated its guts, constantly compared it to _Battlestar Galactica_ ,and were glad to see the back of it, particularly after the final episode, *These Are The Voyages* . I _can't_ ever get how people can hate a TV show or movie (particularly Superman Returns), and then look back on it nostalgically years later hating a new version (Star Trek: Discovery and Man Of Steel being two examples.)
