@ I thought TNG was horrible and incredibly boring. I've never been able to sit through an entire episode of the show. The only reason it was ever on the air is because they employed 'direct syndication', airing it on UHF networks, as the major networks, ABC, CBS and NBC wouldn't touch it.

For me Personally, it’s one of the very BEST, if not THE best of all the Star Trek series…..absolutely Wonderful show that doesn’t seem to date like the others do, it has a Timeless quality about it that stamps it as totally unique! Criminally underrated and ignored at the time of its original release, I’m so pleased that it’s finally getting the love and recognition that it so richly deserves!!

The writing and spoken delivery on this video is maybe the best I've seen. I found myself smiling so big my face hurt for most of the video, learned several facts I hadn't known, cleared up a couple misconceptions I'd had about certain characters, and was reminded of the names and backgrounds of all my favorite actors from the series. Great job!

Captain Archer was the most relatable captain to me. He was both open minded, but stubborn. He fully admitted the way he disliked Vulcans, but began to understand why they did withhold things from humans as he said that humanity should not give technology to less advanced societies. He loves his crew, and that caused him to do things he regretted in making sure he kept them safe. He feared death, but was willing to accept it if needed. He was both short tempered, but also levelheaded when he knew he needed to set the example for his crew. He blew up numerous times to the Vulcan command, but ultimately apologized to them for it. In return he gained respect from the Vulcans, and helped to make them see that humans could adapt into responsible voyagers. Not perfect, but adaptable.

I loved Enterprise and even more so as time goes on. I was so upset when it was cancelled and heartbroken with the final episode for all the reasons you mention, most notably though for the loss of our much loved Tripp. I so agree that everything was there except for some poor stories. My favourite characters were definitely Tripp, Shran, the Doctor and T’Pol. I so wanted there to be a happier connection between Tripp and T’Pol and what a fascinating couple they made. All the cast were great though and I agree with Jeffrey Combs comments about the series, it was just getting into its stride and had so much potential, i am now one of those optimistic people who hope upon hope it can be brought back in some way, re-writing that terrible last episode, giving us back Tripp and living out the potential it had… we can dream can’t we?

T'Pol was such an interesting character. I love the way Vulcan society was depicted on the verge of revolutionary change, the younger generation calling for a return to the fundamentalist beliefs of Surak. T'Pol's original instructions may have been to monitor the Enterprise's missions on behalf of the Vulcan high command but she soon turned out to be far more independent-minded than they had bargained for...and her contribution to the development of Star Fleet and the Federation had immense consequences.

to the very least..hell if it was for me I would even be willing to watch it if it was set 22 years after the last episode and since they decided to play Trip dead, I would have loved to have seen him turning out to be the "Future Guy/illusement Man" of the future, I honestely would have loved if it turn out that Trip dead has been used by Daniels to recruit Trip' as Temporal agent, only or him later on realize that Daniel is actually part of Section 31 and he had allowed the Xindi Attack on Earth to happen in order to trying to change events to ensure a better/more powerful Federation in his timeline no matter the cost, including allowing the death of Trip's sister...as revenge Trip defect from the organization and try to change events using the Sulibans as a minion but in this regard failed to derail Daniels plans and perhaps (as premise), I would have put that in in 2173 Trip try again a new plan to block Daniels in his plot by recovering the torpedo of Sim Tucker, his former clone, who he plan to reanimate and give a cure for his rapidly age falling in order to prevent the start of new Romulan/Federation War, that in Daniels plan it would allow the Federation to emerge stronger and secluded the Romulan as space power..heck we might even tried to justificate T'pol emotional outburst outside Vulcan character by making an episode who reveal that T'pol is actually half-Romulan since his father is revealed to be either a spy or better an exile from the Romulan (perhaps we could use the situation even to explain better the difference between the TOS romulan aspect and the TNG Romulan....something better of the Northern and Southern group......Seriously if I was the producer instead of making this rubbish of Discovery and Picard, I would delete the all genre altogheter, and the sad part of all this you know is what? Since it's 2023 and we all have streaming the producer not even bother to make quality decent series, while in 2005 Discovery and Picard would have never been played out at all)

One of the problems with Enterprise was that it was on UPN, a network that was struggling not only with getting viewership but with acquiring enough t.v. station affiliates. They did manage to syndicate Enterprise in some markets that didn't have a UPN affiliate, but it was still far less available than the other Star Trek shows had been. Then around the time of Enterprise Season 4, the struggling UPN merged with the also struggling WB, and both networks were trying to cut back on their most expensive shows in order to become financially viable. Enterprise was obviously one of the expensive ones.

I'm 71 years old. I have enjoyed ALL Star Trek series, including the newest ones on Paramount+. I firmly believe that 'Enterprise' got the short end of the stick. As in TOS, it took a while to 'get off the ground' but succeeded as a great installment to/of the legacy of Star Trek. I'ld suggest another short series featuring Admiral Archer, going into the TOS time period, just prior to Strange New Worlds.

I disagree about TOS needing time to get off the ground. The first several episodes grabbed me right from the start in 1966. I think most fans agree, especially those around in 1966. It's TNG, in particular, that took about 3 seasons to get going. I could barely make it through the first several episodes of TNG in 1987. I'm surprised I decided to give it a second chance, but I did, eventually.

@DR-qs4xk I disliked all of the mirror universe story arcs not just in Enterprise but also when they did them in other series. The gratuitous cruelty in the Enterprise mirror eps was likely the worst. That included the gratuitous violence and cruelty in the 3 episode Augments story arc. The Forge story line was one of their best but also signals the final season is getting close to the end.

What this Star Trek does very well. Maybe even better then others is the depth of these characters. And how they evolve over the series. You actually feel like they grow and learn. Star Trek always had great characters. But I think there is a bit more going on with how their personality's evolve. I think it is underrated I also think that the acting performances deserve a bit more credit. I think that both the Captain T-Pol an Trip. And what they give to their performances is amazing. Especially T-Pol. It was a couple of years ago that I seen this series. But I can still remember that episode that Her baby dies. And she grabs Trips hand. And how she expresses her emotions but at the same time trying to supress them because that is the Vulcan thing to do. Still gives me goosebumps when I think about it. She really was good in her role and it was a incredibly difficult role as well. Things like how she struggles with her addiction and lose control in keeping her emotions in check. It is here where the true heart of the show lies. It was however the most difficult Star Trek For me to get into. The first episodes are to slow paced I think. And it becomes more interesting over time. But I hate how the series ended. Was so wrong. It deserved so much more. And I do hate theme song. I despise it haha. While it is not my favourite. It is it's own little unique thing. And I think it is sad that the series would be the highlight of their careers for most actors. Because their performances where really good.

I didn't get into "QL" at first, but I'd rather watch reruns of Scott Bakula in it than this new rebooted series. Unless an actor dies and a new actor is chosen, I'm tired of my well- known chrs. being replaced by someone so different in his or her role. Why not get someone who resembled that former actor? I miss "Enterprise" and was glad I tuned in one day-even if I couldn't get UPN very well til I got cable TV. Loved it after my dad introduced me to "TOS" in '66. I want Manny Coto in charge of a new series as he had great ideas for the initiated 5-7th series, particularly the one about T'Pol's baby surviving, Trip not dying, and her discovering her father was a Romulan. I didn't like the holodeck story, but if a series-or movie-could explain why it was done to cover up Section 31's use of Trip to infiltrate the Romulan War, not just to kill off Trip and the show, than that might've worked. It didn't happen and the show was cancelled. I want Jolene to return, even if it were to be a movie. Listen to the actors, especially after they've become used to their characters. Please, write: laurie.metrose@cbs.com and jennifer.verti@cbs.com and let them know what you want-series or movie.

One of the best Star Trek shows on television. Season 4 got us all ramped up for more... unfortunately. They could create a whole new show around her.

Not sure about that... As much as I loved T'Pol, you have to admit she was exploited for her looks, probably even much more than Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine. So much that she basically quit acting after Enterprise. But she did get married and had three children, which also really matters, mind you ! 😉
@sighteternal497
@sighteternal497 Жыл бұрын
@@daltonx6177 While I do agree, Hollyweird has always exploited very attractive people especially women throughout its history. These actors know the industry they are in. Star Trek is also known as the pigeon holer of many actors careers due to type casting which is why so many actors from all of the series end up doing fan conventions signing autographs and taking pictures with most newer acting jobs centered around the character they played in their perspective series starting with TOS. Even Bill Schatner could barely find acting work after TOS other than his voice over for the cartoon until Star Trek The Motion Picture in 1979, almost ten years after the original show had been cancelled at NBC.🙂

Thanks, guys! Enterprise was always my favorite Trek. In my opinion, the best captain, best first officer, best engineer, best doctor, and best communications officer (well, maybe a tie there with Uhura!) I loved both versions of the theme song (maybe a slight edge to the second one). Third and Fourth seasons were especially fantastic, though the finale was the single worst Star Trek episode I had ever seen. I still can’t even bear to rewatch a minute of that travesty, though I’ve watched all the other episodes multiple times. It was such an insult to have the (pompous) TNG characters hijack the Enterprise crew I loved, especially on their final voyage. The true series finale to me was the wonderful 2-part Terra Prime arc.

Thanks so much for this video. Star Trek: Enterprise is by far my most loved ST series, from the title track, to the stories and characters. However, in Germany it was impossible to watch any of the show for a long time. When it aired in the US nobody here knew it even existed. A friend of mine who was in the States at that time was so kind to record the pilot for me and sent it when he got back home. I was thrilled and hoped for it to be on TV soon but to no avail. Instead, way over 1 year later, Enterprise season one was made available on VHS cassettes in rental stores. The had packed 2 episodes onto one VHS, coming every few weeks to the rentals if you were lucky. At the end of seasons 1, being left with the cliffhanger, deliveries stopped. After months of waiting and asking, the stores around here told me they would not make season 2 available for renting, because the VHS tapes were too expensive and they could not recoup the costs. Of course, there still was no air date for German TV and it was impossible to buy the tapes anywhere. So it took another many, many months until season 1 and 2 were finally made available on DVD for purchase. Later, with seasons 3 and 4, the DVDs had to be ordered in the UK and shipped to Germany in order to watch the final seasons. Thankfully, all the searsons are available for streaming today 🙂

Young people don't realise how hard it was to collect and watch Star Trek back in the days. Here in the UK you couldn't rent the VHS so you had to buy the VHS and they were £10 for just two episodes on each tape and then you needed the storage space for all the chunky VHS. Thankfully when cable/SKY TV became popular in the UK you could watch and record them off that

@@laurarules3642Sorry for my late reply and thanks for adding your interesting experience. Yes indeed, it was really hard to watch a show which you liked. Honestly, I would have been happy being able to buy the VHS tapes but they were licensed for renting only, which made them so horribly expensive that the stores even refrained from stocking more than 1 copy each, because even constant renting out would hardly recoup the costs. So glad that we have streaming today and I can rewatch this great series whenever I want.

'Enterprise' may not be my favorite Trek by any stretch, but it will certainly forever hold a special place in my heart. My best friend in the universe died back towards the end of 2019, and while he was also my tattoo artist he was a huge turbo nerd like me which is a big reason why we became such close friends over the years. He knew me better than even my own family members and I loved him very dearly. 'Enterprise' was his favorite Star Trek series and the NX-01 was his favorite ship, and upon his coaxing I rewatched the series myself years ago for the first time all the way through and found a new appreciation for it. He always said that one of his favorite aspects of 'Enterprise' was that when it came to solving a problem, it was much less "technobabble" and more of a "just hit it with a wrench" kind of mentality which I found to be hilarious and frankly incredibly apt really. To this day I use this description as motivation to encourage people to get into the Star Trek franchise by means of 'Enterprise' because I find that many non-Trekkies can be turned off by the overabundance of technobabble and such that's often so prevalent in series like TNG or 'Voyager', making ENT a bit more accessible to the traditionally "sci-fi averse". ENT also works as the perfect entry point since it all takes place before the rest of the series chronologically in-universe. After my friend passed, 'Enterprise' has since taken up a much more special little niche within my personal Trek fandom and it is because of this I will always look upon this series with a sense of bittersweet fondness interwoven with a bit of nostalgia...

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Star Trek ENTERPRISE!! Scott Bakula was a GREAT choice to play the part to command the young crew my favorite character was indeed Trip who was so funny and can be serious at times and Dr. Phlox seemed to balance out everybody else with his professional medical ethics and charm the final episode was DREADFUL to say the least!! I wish they had written a better story for a final sendoff strong start weak ending this was a great video I really enjoyed it Thank You🙏⭐🖖❤

Great backgrounder/overview. Streamed Enterprise a while back. Sorry that it [Enterprise] ended the way it did. Thought Bakula made a great captain.

I think the show-runners were burnt-out and so were the fans. The studio should've waited several years for a new Trek series.

Not sure if you are familiar with the channel Rowan J Coleman, but a collaboration between the two of you would/could/should be epic. In other words, I love this video.

Overlooked this show- after the oil scene towards the beginning- only to give it another chance after breaking some bones and binging- to then become my favorite Star Trek series. Thanks for the look back!

Arguably one of the more realistic and believable versions of the franchise. My favourites are: Original, Enterprise and DS9. The others were just a little tooo "perfect" for my liking.

Superb video, Podcast ! I watched Enterprise on TV, I bought the DVDs set and I just finished watching the four seasons on Netflix. Can you imagine, 24 episodes per season !!! Nowadays, we can't expect a series of more than 10 episodes. Time have changed !!! Enterprise is my favorite Trek series. Well, I should say "was". Now, Star Trek Strange New Worlds is my new number one. But let's go back to Enterprise. The video you made is a must-see for all Enterprise (and even Trek) fans. One word comes to my mind : educational. I simply loved it. The last episode of season 4 was a disappointment for me also. But, it includes one of the best scenes of the entire series : when Archer hugs T'Pol. It's a simple scene but it means a lot. I cried again watching it.

@@ethericlimerick2992 Guys guys. True Star Trek ended with the Enterprise I`m sorry to say. As long as that alternate licence bullshit is in effect and incompetent idiots like Alex Kurtzman (head of Secret Hideout) are overall in charge of the franchise we will never get true Star Trek. What the hell am I talking about: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZvXiZKFr5mKqbc&pp=iAQB kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4nKfKGmrMutbMk&pp=iAQB kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXLLqYmAetylp5o Here`s the entire thing: kzbin.info/aero/PLPowVAXtN3lURaypzGfAEg8GGgEZbekHC I would gladly trade all "Star Trek" since 2009 onwards and get the Enterprise properly (with old competent crew led by Rick Berman & Braga) finished instead or atleast let Star Trek Axanar continue unhindered but yeah that`ll happen anytime soon😢 Here`s a vulcan scene with Soval in Star Trek Axanar (so reminding me of Enterprise): kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWiVZIeMbKyNfLM God I miss true Star Trek.

I love Enterprise now, but had a hard time with Bacula as Captain. I said from the beginning they chose the wrong captain. I watched Quantum Leap and it spoiled Enterprise for me. It should have been someone not familiar or famous.

I loved the ST Enterprise series and was very disappointed that it ended up being canceled after such a short time, plus it was underrated from the beginning considering it was supposed to be before all the others time wise in the Star Trek universal ages and before the 1701 with Captain Kirk. Scott Bakula did a great job with being the captain of the NX-01, and it is so sad that he didn’t have the recognition as those of the other series as others did with their characters. I will always be a big fan of the WHOLE entire Star Trek series, and movies as well, it is more hopeful than a lot of others I’ve seen lately, and much more practical as well. The stories are strong and also actors and actresses, including all those behind the scenes helping to create an enduring universe of the future or what it could become, all thanks to Gene Roddenberry’s vision of space travel. RIP Gene, your fans still love you for sharing this with us and many are still continuing what you left behind for inspiration and into bringing something worthwhile to humanity’s films and future ……👍👍👍👍❤️

The most underrated show in the franchise, Casting was spot on, I liked the theme song it brought forth that this was THE first adventure to the stars. They definitely had challenges to overcome after all the other series in the franchise but they did overcome and exceed them, They definitely were cut too quickly

I liked the fact they tried to rewrite some history with the klingons. How they look human in tbe old series and how they're normal looking before and after that point in time.

This presentation was very entertaining and informative. I for one loved the Enterprise series as well as the Next Gen and original Star Trek. Let's face it, the over paid and out of touch executives blotch it. With the right marketing and time slots, it could have easily continued on for additional seasons, become another Star Trek series legend like Next Gen, but certain individuals did not want that to happen. I now have the complete DVD set which I watch every few years. It's like re-living the adventures each time. Perhaps the series a legend now.

While I though the show was looking back a mixed bag , for me the biggest challenges to get to grips was This show was supposed to be before the organically series so should have been lacking the technology as per promised They lazily renamed shields to polarise the hull plating Just phasers renamed phase cannons, phasers to phase pistols and so on, at least the transporters were used only for cargo and hardly for human transportation. Also having species like the feringi and naussicans in the show even before they were in TOS and featured firstly in TNG did a disservice to the timeline. It would have been fantastic to have seen some TOS alien species and left the TNG aliens to be contacted during the lost era between TOS and TNG

Enterprise was my first trek and I still love it dearly to this day. This show is the reason why I'm into this wonderful series. After seeing other Star Trek movies and shows like TOS, TNG, DS9 and DISC, I feel that this show makes me appreciate all of them that much more.

At the very least if you want to watch TRUE Star Trek (from 1966 to 2005, movies included) from beginning to the end you have to start with Enterprise so that you have na idea how it all came to be. And yeah I miss that show to. Damn that imbecil Leslie Moonves: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZvXiZKFr5mKqbc&pp=iAQB kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4nKfKGmrMutbMk&pp=iAQB

I saw the whole Entreprise series only in the past 2 years and was really fascinated by the ingenious plots- scripts and so was extremely disappointed that it was cancelled as the storyline felt unfinished...I love the main characters, Trip, Archer, T' Pol. I too felt that some aspects of T' Pol's character were not always as "Vulcain" as Spock has shown it to be even if he was a male and half human.
