Here, let me sum up. 40 years ago they made a movie. It was good. And it never happened again.

Whereas legacy Star Trek was inspiring and innovative, the new Trek are just stories. As the sets were smaller and more intimate, the newer ones are more like unrealistic eye-candy. The writers need to go back and watch episodes such as 'TOS - Arena', 'TNG - Darmok', 'DS9 - Duet & Visitor', 'Voyager - Real Life', and 'Enterprise - Shuttlepod One'.

I've been a Star Trek Fan since the 1960's. Cancelling Star Trek Enterprise was a big mistake. Current Star Trek Series don't even come close to being as good as the Star Treks Series of the past. I'm not impressed with Discovery or with Picard. As far as Star Trek "Strange New Worlds", we'll have to wait and see where it goes from here. Honestly, the Fan based Series "Star Trek Continues" was very well done and deserved to be picked up by a Network. But they're too busy catering to the younger generation when they should be giving more thought to what the older generations want, to see. We're the ones that spend more time in front of the television set and not out running around. I hope they will wake up and see Star Trek for what it has and always will be, and that's the best Science Fiction Series ever!

This movie reminds me a lot of another favorite of mine, Local Hero. Obviously not the plot, but rather a small movie that pokes fun at a common stereotype ( the fish out of water/ small town against the corporation) and turns it on its ear. Also made by the acting, you really delight in the story unfolding.

Would love to see a director's cut of this. The beauty of this movie is it pokes gentle fun at ST and the fan phenomenon while also celebrating the fandom. The tension between the cast is also well done. What really makes it is the actors, you can tell they really loved doing it and they made it work. Tim Allen had the right comedic chops to portray the captain as this narcissist yet also that he actually has seeds of greatness in him, you see him develop a heart.

I got to go to the first one in theatres twice which I really enjoyed. This is a fun recap, thank you.

Hopefully the creative team of Star Trek Strange New World s, will fit in the timeline s here by bringing back some of the characters from S.T Enterprise

What a shame. Enterprise was a great show! I love streaming it once or twice every year. Great cast w/ a lot of personality. Good storytelling. So much better than Discovery and Picard. In fact, I'd put Enterprise right up there with TNG and Voyager and better than all the rest.

I love Enterprise so much. Such a shame it was canceled. I am sorry to say I never watched it when it was first run because I was so put off by the Dianne Warren song in the beginning. It seemed so out of place, especially since the instrumental theme for the show by Dennis McCarthy was so good. Anyway, I agree.....terribly underrated show.

I never cared for SGU, didn't even finish the 1st season. I don't even consider it canon, it was too dark, too jumbled of a story, with only 1 good actor. How can you make a good series where everyone is in a vehicle not controlled by those people. Same problem with another show I watched: Snowpiercer - the train that never stopped. You need not only to have people personality, you need the show or movie to have a personality - this is a hard item to quantify or even describe, but when you see it you know it's there. Even some poorly done shows and TV have had personality. Even if the script / acting isn't all that good, if the show has personality it might become a classic. And this has happened at least several times - maybe more.

Question time (46:10): "Did we get enough shirtless Tucker time?" Answer time (43:50): "Well, we DIDN'T get enough bare-waisted Hoshi Sato time! Phew! Talk about taking the Enterprise on "navel" maneuvers!

Maybe it's a matter of timing and taste . I thought Enterprise was great. Whereas I couldn't stand Deep Space 9 or Voyager. And I won't even discuss Discovery's existence. It's still running and I really thought they'd yank it after the 2nd season. Enterprise had a big fan base. They ended it really awkardly. Α shame , Kodo was a master at Star Trek and they destroyed what he built.

While the Kelvin timeline isn’t fully canon in the Star Trek universe, it does create an expanded multiverse like in DC’s Crisis On Infinite Earths
