Steiner's music here reminds me of Bernard Herrmann.

I can’t help but crying every time I see this scene where Apollo is finished

This was, in truth, the only part of the episode that I found really worthwhile. After all the silliness the actors actually manage to pull off Apollo’s anguish and Kirk’s genuine regret; Leslie Parrish is just gorgeous, and Steiner’s melancholy score certainly helps to sell the whole thing. Too bad the rest of the episode didn’t rise to that level. (If the NBC brass had had the guts to approve the proposed ending where McCoy reveals that Carolyn Palamas was pregnant with Apollo’s child, Star Trek would have been front page news from coast to coast. Of course, they didn’t.)

Amazing! This is some really great work. Informational, educational and a unique look at some of TOS' greatest characters: the musical scores.

Reminiscent of the cue from Charlie X where he fades out. "I Wanna stay!"

No kidding! Another Steiner score. So brilliantly sad.

That became a formulaic ending for Star Trek villains: Charlie, Apollo, Landrue, Trelane… All repeating something as they faded away, or in Landrue’s case, short circuited.

Wonderful videos. Subscribed! Where does one get a copy of the score?

Thank you! I don't know if these old scores are available anywhere but I doubt it. I do my own transcriptions using MuseScore, and they're my best guess to get as close to original as I can. I don't believe I can make them available due to copyright laws.

@@davidpage9355 It's my primary scoring tool! I've even discovered ways to improve its sound with plug-ins and Soundfonts. I also use Performer Lite to supplement my work. I've been thrilled by the results.

Nice! I love what I have now, but will have to get more "invested". I haven't yet downloaded MuseScore 4.. it kind of scares me. I'll check out Performer Lite and see what else is out there. Thanks for the intel. I'll come to you if I get in trouble!
