Diana Muldaur was allegedly not well-treated by some of the TNG cast, and that awkward chemistry comes across on screen at times (particularly with Patrick Stewart) and it worked really well. I'm probably in the minority here, but I also liked her dynamic with Data because by the end of the season you can see she's changed her opinion on him, and I think that friendship had the potential to be kind of the McCoy/Spock or Odo/Quark of TNG.

The original McCoy is my favorite, then the new McCoy as I find him funny too. Then Dr Crusher and Dr Bashir. And dont forget Dr M'Benga who had studied on Vulcan.
@classicalduck3 жыл бұрын
I'm delighted that you made a point of editing in an appreciation of Dr. T'ana. But what about the other apostrophe, Dr. M'Benga (Booker Bradshaw)? He was brought in for two episodes of TOS as a human who was a specialist in Vulcan medicine, a nice touch. And Dr. Piper (Paul Fix), the other pre-McCoy CMO of NCC-1701 in "Where No Man Has Gone Before," ought to have had at least a mention.

(And I don't mind at all that you excluded the EMH Mark II; I have tried to forget about him.)

I don't know if I would rank them but Dr. Selar from NextGen and Dr. M'Benga from the original series deserves an honorable mention.

1st and 2nd ex aequo: Phlox and The Doctor, 3-10: I don't care ;-) My favorite moment of The Doctor is on the Enterprise E in "First Contact" when Beverly tells him to hold back the Borg and he replies: "I'm a doctor, not a door stop!"

You skipped over Doctor Piper who was the original doctor under Kirk. Doctor M'Benga who was the acting CMO in McCoy's absence. Lastly Doctor Chapel who earned her full medical degree between TOS and TMP, basically taking Doctor M'Benga's spot as the number two doctor onboard the Enterprise at least during The Motion Picture.

Honestly I love the Star Trek doctor characters. The Doctor definitely should be higher, so should Flox who was a shining gem on Enterprise. I am happy to see Dr. Pulaski getting some respect. She had such a presence and I would have loved to see her character sketched out more. Dr. Crusher and Bones were great characters and I loved them but on my list they would be down a bit. Bashir is also a great character who mellowed always grumpy O’Brien and made Garak shine. This list really is like a who’s who of great characters.
@mdteletom12883 жыл бұрын
I'm not a big Crusher fan and I liked that Pulaski shaked things up a bit, although the attitude toward Data could've been toned down. I'd also put Bashir ahead of the Doctor if only for his first meeting with Data ("You have real hair! Does it grow?"). So my ranking would be: Bones, Pulaski, Bashir, the Doctor and then Crusher. The rest of them I couldn't care less about.

My personal favorite is Bones He will do what he has to do to get the job done and he’ll do it with a sarcastic remark
@lovehawks28143 жыл бұрын
If he got the job done, his catch phrase wouldn't be "He's dead," and his greatest medical accomplishment that can be attributed to him being what is essentially putting a bandaid on a rock creature. I believe he determined that he could cure a rainy day after that spackle job.

I love Bones McCoy! He was priceless. He hated the transporter beam because it scrambled his atoms he was worried the would forget how to reassemble his body. His ongoing conflict with Spock was and still is one of the funniest parts of the original Stas Trek. He also kept Kirk from being or at least looking like an arrogant, overbearing toad. He definitely was the best doctor in the Star Trek series. I also loved when Spock would take Bones to task about what Spock called Bones' "beads and rattles", when Bones was going to treat him for something. Their ongoing relationships and funny dialog between the three of them became very popular part of the series.

The Doctor at 4? Way too low. His character arc was the most interesting aspect of Voyager. Far more interesting than Crusher, who is is unwatchable. The uncertainty around his status as a sentient individual is the best part. McCoy is OK, but not great until the movies.

I loved the Rios EMHs and no I do not consider them weird simply because up until Picard and company came on board, he was literally the only person that ran his entire ship singlehandedly. He reprogrammed the EMHs pretty much to keep him company and give him an outlet in order to keep him from losing his sanity. So no, it is not weird but relatable and enduring and overall awesome.
@kali36653 жыл бұрын
You'll NEVER beat Bones McCoy (original series, of course - f*ck the Kelvin version).... McCoy: "Well, this is a new ship, but she's got the right name. Now, you remember that, you hear!" Data: "I will, sir." McCoy: "You treat her like a lady, and she'll always bring you home."

If competence at the job was the criteria for judging, then him and the EMH from Voyager would be a toss up for the top spot as they can out think all the others easily, with the EMH being computer based and Bashir being genetically enhanced to think at computer like speed while also having perfect memory recall and the computing ability that would even surpass any Vulkan by far.

:( Culber's only 7? I mean I haven't watched more to see the rest of the list so maybe I'm about to be proven right, but I think Culber is the best character on Disco. Also I'd put The Doctor at #1. Robert Picardo is so good he can take even the worst episodes and make it enjoyable if he has a big enough role.
@TheAlmafi3 жыл бұрын

@dtfrancis88883 жыл бұрын
Since they didn't have T'Ana on this list to start, this likely was created prior to Disco season 3. Culber killed it all season, acting almost as a counselor as well as doctor. And I would definitely place Boyce over PIC Med Hologram. Bashir and Phlox need to be higher, and Pulaski needs to be lower.
@countluke23343 жыл бұрын
Even if that person was the best character on Disco, there are still 7 better shows, so he can be quite lucky with that position.

@@countluke2334 That is 100% not how that works. DS9 is the best show, but that doesn't mean I put Bashir first? I rank Voyager as like the 5th best Star Trek but I'm still saying EMH Doc should be #1

The Doctor should have been higher. From a medical point of view, he literally has databanks worth of knowledge to draw from. His character is one of the most interesting in the entire franchise. With an arc that touches on everything. He also had some fantastic episodes with Seven, teaching her to be human again. Pulanski at 3? What a disaster.
