I fully agree. I'm a big fan of the Ferengi. Favorite race in Trek. :P The reason the model wasn't used as much as I'd like to have seen.. the original model for the D'Kora broke. The electronic moters that helped the ship transform stopped working and the staff failed to get them to work again. :( Shots of the model were used for future episodes but no new video was made of the D'Kora until a Voyager episode where a full CGI D'Kora was used. The whole run of DS9 we don't see a single Ferengi D'Kora or anything save for the shuttle despite several trips the show took to Ferenginar. Missed opportunities to see what Ferenginar looks like from orbit. I'd like to have seen what the orbiting stations would have looked like. lol probably like casinos. xD

Especially when you consider the Grand Nagus is the head of state. On Deep Space Nine we didn’t get to see a D'kora Starship or any Ferengi military personal. The Ferengi weren't involved in the Dominion war but you would have thought the Grand Nagus may have sent some observers to see if it’s profitable to join the war or not.

It was teased at a couple of times in some episodes but, much like the invasion of Betazed, was then dropped from any future story development. Even before the war you'd think there would at least be simple background shots of them around DS9 as it was a major trading port. So much missed opportunity.

in _Star Trek Online_ as well as the novels, *The Nagus actually owns a Latinum-plated T6 Marauder,* but it doesn't have many weapons or fortifications; it's mostly just a luxury/pleasure vessel for business dealings. it _killed_ me that the ship didn't appear on DS9 though.

Great choice. Woefully under appreciated design. This thing is just beautiful to look at it, all soft edges and flowing lines. I'm not sure if you get this request a lot, but one of the often unsung yet extraordinarily influential and noteworthy sci fi ships has got to be White Base from the original Mobile Suit Gundam. That whole series is a wet dream for mechanical design, and there would be no better place to start than with White Base. Thanks for the hard work.

on your last portion, the only reason why the Enterprise was damaged was due to the training exercise which disabled not only the torpedoes but phasers as well.

The reason that happened with the Enterprise D and that Ferengi ship was because the Enterprise crew thought the Ferengi D'Kora class ship was a hologram created by Lt. Worf who was on the Hathaway who originally fooled the crew with an image of a Romulan Warbird by tricking the ENTERPRISE' security sensors.

@@hobomike6935 Generally speaking, even if the Enterprise D had it's shields raised, it only takes about 6 hits to knock them out. The Enterprise almost always gets it's ass handed to it, before coming up with some way to get out of the situation.

When TNG started, the ferengi were envisioned as the main protagonist species, so they had the impressive bad guy ship, (remember it was the 80s, and everyone was obsessed with wall Street and money) When their first few appearances turned kinda silly, they writers decided to switch to the Romulans and the cooler D'deridex was born, that combined with the motor for the D'Kora breaking signaled the end of it (save reusing shots) until they made cgi models for it.

The D'Kora used disruptors? Memory Alpha just says "directed energy weapons". But when you watch episodes where the ship fires its energy weapons. It looks like phaser bolts, closely resembling phaser heavy dual cannons.

The only reason the Kreechta was able to best the Enterprise-D was because the crew mistook her for a ruse from the crew of the Hathaway and were not able to switch from their training systems to their live weapons in time to fend off the incoming attack. Had it been a normal situation, the Enterprise likely would have sent the Ferengi packing in short order.

I think the ferengi military are full of the guys who lack any real entrepreneurship skills and were tasked keep the trade lanes safe from pirates. Also they would also patrol Ferengi space on the look out for smugglers who try to circumvent the Ferengi Alliance's tariff laws
