For me, it ends at "Dammit! Where'd he go?' I then click on the green to complete mission and that's the end of it. I don't even get "Jason, are you sure?" I can't complete this event.

First off, great username! Apparently the mission is based on picking the correct options, I guess I got lucky, which I never do that in these scenarios. You should be able to go back to "Gifts" and get another mission key to try again. Definitely have to make specific decisions in order to complete the mission 100%.
