Certainly you know that you erred? This footage comes at the beginning of ST:WOK, so the Enterprise is leaving spacedock, and will encounter Kahn, NOT the Klingons. Therefore, Reliant was already out scouting for planetary bodies to accommodate the Genesis project headed by Dr’s. Carol Marcus and son, David. Reliant WAS NOT in spacedock during this movie, and had been destroyed by the end of the film. Please make sure of the facts before giving statements such as this (and don’t tell me it’s just a FANPIC. The facts still matter)!

The actual film had to re-use footage from the 1st film due to budgetary concerns, but it makes soooo much more sense for it to be set inside the same Spacedock facility we first saw in the 3rd film -- and this magnificent re-imagining can now show us what Nicholas Meyers would probably have opted to do if he'd only had the budget back then. MAGNIFICENT!!! And the inclusion of the extra dialogue regarding Sulu and the USS Excelsior -- as well as the extra footage of Peter Preston, now officially acknowledged in on-screen dialogue to be Scotty's nephew -- delivers the chef's kiss of perfection for Trekkies like me. Dare I say it, but it would be great to see an Improved Cut of STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN with this footage replacing what was originally shown in the Theatrical Cut? YES, I dare say it!

Very interesting choices made here. First: Thank you for using director’s cut dialog. Sulu’s command and Midshipman Preston’s “Tiger” talk to ADM. Kirk is always needed. Second: The ship leaving space dock instead of the reused Motion Picture orbital frame departure was a great change. Third: Keeping that underside view while she twists to head out. She’s such a magnificent ship when viewed from the back. Very good work here!

The shot of the Big E at 5:09 sent my skin tingling! Not just a beautiful rendering, but the angle on the ship is reminiscent of the classic angles of the Original Star Trek, so it set off all sorts of happy nostalgia vibes! This is amazing! I love that you added the blinking light to the bottom of the ship after they exited the space doors! Just one minor item to point out. In the original movie the Enterprise left space dock and Capt. Spock made reference to it to Lt. Saavik. However in this reimagined scene they are leaving a starbase. Perhaps you can edit Spock's dialogue to say, "Lieutenant, have you ever piloted a ship out of a starbase?"

The most iconic era of Star Trek for sure! The ship designs, the military aspect as well as exploration. Heck, even the original look and sound of the photon torpedoes was a lot better then. Why did producers deviate from what was successful, what actually was working and popular with the fanbase? And.. R.I.P. Kristie Alley (Lt. Saavik).
