cant remember if it's a fanfiction or what, but someone wrote that Q and Trelane are related. I'd say that was far more likely than Q and Apollo (one of whom being the God of Thunder or somesuch, the other not played by Michael Forest), and was it Picard who echoed Kirk in saying that Q was one step removed from chaos? Surely both Q and Trelane are the embodiment of anarchic rebellion against a parent who was every bit as unpredictably hyperactive? (I'd like to have closed the Charles Evans story with a link to the Q Continuum, but they already did a better job of writing him out in "Of Gods And Men" than I ever could).

They are not the same! The Spock is not Vulcan. Scotty is just punk. The Doctor out. Their uniform are not fitting. They don't go boldly anywhere maybe to a toilet. The best actor was the girl they were to save and who actually saved the guy, who was acting like a barbarian and I could go on and on. It is done so visibly cheap - it hurts. I still enjoy it but it is not the same it's cheap.

I disagree with the previous comment by Arman. Making special effects in the 1960s style was pure genius. And following the style of the crew of yesteryear a brilliant movie. Both productions were great continuations of TOS. Just wish New Voyages had been able to finish up their run before all the stupid new rules kicked in that pretty much killed Star Trek fan productions of high quality. They still have 3 episodes at least that were filmed but the VFX have not been completed and they can't release them still due to CBS not allowing it. Sucks too because one of the episodes was going to be the late Richard Hatch's last work before he died. I hope they get released eventually one day.

Extremely well written and enacted, great special effects, and strange but refreshing to see a somewhat buff Bones with an out-of-worldly southern drawl. They even had the band of light across Kirk's eyes, but over the entire face rather than just across the eyes like in TOS. You can tell it was deliberate because when the camera angle shifts, that band disappears. It's great that they carry on the style of the end credits superposed on past scenes (and of course, with the characteristic end credit music).

When Spock is first given command, I really felt for him. He didn't want to be captain, he didn't want command. What he wanted was irrelevant. He *was* the captain. A ship must have a captain which is why he pushed it. He knew the crew had to put aside the memory of Kirk to do their jobs properly. If that offended human sensibilities, then too bad, there was no help for it. You could tell by the look on his face that pushing the crew to call him Captain was distasteful for him. But sometimes we have to do the distasteful.

I thought this was the best of the Cawley episodes. Look at the producers and the writer on the credits. It is Star Trek. They know what they're doing because they did it in 1966. This was a story shelved for decades, that didn't get done because the series ended in 69. The supporting cast is very good. The Psychiatrist was excellent. When this aired as Gross' first episode I was hoping James' project and Vic's ST Continues could alternate releases for a few years and give us a fairly consistent look from the two studios and teams. Unfortunately the Axinar/CBS feud emerged and CBS decided to produce Monster Trek into Darkness. What I call "Not Trek" or TINO. The post production on this was very nice with the !multiple heavy cruiser shots, and the performance for Spock and Bones was some of the best in the fan films. Thank you James for having the vision to do this and to bring your team up to a level of professionalism that made it a pleasure to watch. PS: I often wondered if the DS9 episode with Sisko in the past in mental torment was a variant of this old story.
