Star Trek New Voyages answer to JJ Trek - Timeline Restored

JJ's Star Trek caused the Star Trek timeline to be disrupted. Luckily, Star Trek New Voyages is on its way to the rescue!
This short satirical film was originally made for the German FedCon XX convention (Europe's largest) in 2011 and was shown during the opening ceremony.
The idea for this clip came from James Cawley who discussed this idea with Tobias Richter while visiting Tobias in his offices in Cologne, Germany after FedCon 2010.

The interior shots were filmed by Phase II and the special effects were made by Tobias Richter.

Pretty funny. Like I've said, I'll give Abrams a break on the first one, brewery engineering notwithstanding. I went back and forth on it, but at least it was original. That second one was atrocious. For those of you who talk about it reinvigorating the franchise, the franchise isn't supposed to be lens flare-palooza. It's supposed to be thoughtful, even in its action sequences. Now, there were some conventions that the older movies way over-used, I'll give you that, but that wasn't the way to freshen it up.

James Martin First let me say I have watched Star Trek since I was a little kid. Back when it aired originally. And I have enjoyed all the spin offs as well. Okay, maybe not Enterprise so much. But I agree. The first one was in, my opinion, the best Trek movie ever. It breathed new life into an old series. So what do they follow up with? A new story? Hell no. They bring back a character from the old series. What will it be for the third installment, Harry Mudd? Still, I loved the opening sequence volcano and all.

@@doleh8477 well, it’s not necessarily in the Star Trek “future” as it’s a “young” version of the cast is on their first missions and secondly the comment is not regarding the act of updating of the design. The comment is related to the terrible design of the JJprise itself. It’s just not good. Look to the Motion Picture Refit and the Discovery updated versions of the Enterprise as awesome designs that don’t look just plain ugly.

JJ-A violated a number of Star Trek timelines (Capt. Pike's being the most obvious) and established cultural mores (like Vulcans only mating for life, as opposed to having girlfriends and being rather more casual about it). That is just disrespectful of the Star Trek universe and fans, and/or criminally careless. He is a hack with a big budget who can only do flash and bang, with no story, character or soul. Unlike most Star Trek fan films, which have no budget, but great story, character and soul.

dougdax Funny, the Wrath of Khan consoles work fine for me, as do the ones from ST 2, 3 (not 4, as they spent their time in a BoP), 5 (despite the *rest* of the movie sucking...but I blame that on Shatner), 6, and Generations (for what time we see the 1701-B)... And as for 'Apple style', I mean the white, the chrome, the blinding floodlights, and the shiny, shiny floors. I mean seriously, who puts that on a ship expected to do actual work (as opposed to being a showpiece)? About the only excuse I can think of for those floors (do you have *any* idea how much work it would be to keep that kind of gloss?) is so Kirk can look up female crewmembers' skirts.

dougdax You're basically quibbling. The overall design of even the ToS era sets is fine. The ToS era bridge is, in fact, just about perfect. Would it need better displays and surface controls? Sure. Those are not issues, though, just minor details. Really, put the ToS era bridge in grays/earth tones and it's still the best looking of them all.

Nice video, but the prime timeline was never destroyed or erased in any way. It still exists. The JJ movies are set in an ALTERNATE timeline, which doesn't affect the prime timeline in any way. No matter what bullsh*t JJ comes up with, the prime timeline wont be affected in ANY way. People can still make a movie that is a sequel to Star Trek Nemesis after the JJ movies are done and this sequel is going to be canon. The old movies and TV shows are still canon. There is no need to restore the timeline or stuff like that.

Karl Betts, that JJ Enterprise looks like it was deliberately designed to offend trekkers. It sucks, with its too close together nacelles and it's too big nacelles and everything out of whack. I really wished it had been destroyed in "Into Darkness" and we would then get the original TV series Enterprise. I hope it gets destroyed in the next movie and we get the original.

I believe that they had a comic book story where it revealed that older Spock not only went to the past, but an alternate reality, that the mirror universe wasn't the only one and that there was a multiverse. Star Trek Discovery is probably one of them. It's cool to see the classical Enterprise make a jump into warp speed.
