In honour of Star Trek's 50th birthday this year, as well as the release of Star Trek Beyond and announcement of Star Trek: Discovery, I have put together a piano arrangement of the very best music the franchise has given us over the past half-century - (as if my Star Wars piano medley wasn't long and complicated enough). Sprawling over the films, the series, and the animated show, these beautiful pieces from numerous legendary composers can be enjoyed all in one place, as we walk through the evolution of Trek lore and film scores alike. Thank you for joining me on this voyage, and I hope you enjoy this little project of mine. Live long and prosper!

WOW!!!! All I can say is WOW! Also, the fact that included The Animated Series, The Inner Light, and something from each film and series, you get 20 bonus points from me.The only thing I would have included was Archer's Theme from Enterprise, but that's ok. This was absolutely incredible. The fans said and now I will, Star Trek Lives!

@@TheVarietyGuy Your passion for Trek is reflected in your sheer brilliance as a pianist and in the execution and tying together of the many themes here. Star Trek was blessed to have brilliant composers creating uplifting and Utopian music to match the sheer optimism of the series and the films. That you, as a very young person, understand and can convey this optimism and hope through your playing is very uplifting for me. Long may you continue to create such music...LLAP.

Honestly, given the richness of the full orchestral versions of these pieces, I was skeptical as to how well a piano only could handle this. I am no longer skeptical. This was of a tremendously high quality. Your dynamics were particularly well executed. It takes a lot of skill to keep the loudest and quietest portions balanced this well. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us music loving trekkies.

The end of The Inner Light made me cry and even when I'm not a big fan of Deep Space Nine the transition COMPLETLY destroyed me. And we don't talk about First Contact. This thing barried me 1,8 meters under the ground... AND WHY THE F is with Insurrection?! I mean HOW?! Thats so beautiful. I completly forget about this song :O And Nemesis... Idk... I think I'm dead xD But my favourite is still Enterprise. I don't exacly know why everyone hate this song but for me it was the best decision in the franchise.

I have heard a few dozen medleys of Star trek music, but none is as comprehensive as this one. I had this playing in the background when I heard the theme from the Animated Series, and I don't think I've ever heard that included before. This is really a very well assembled piece. Heck, I attended the 50th anniversary concert, and while very well put together, they might have consulted you to get a more comprehensive list of selections. Kudos!

@@TheVarietyGuy I teach guitar and piano. I was a NASA engineer on the Space Shuttle. But I have a love of music and I studied it. In my next incarnation, lol, I will be a composer. For fun, I compose themes to existing movies - what I would have composed. Sometimes, I honestly think I equalled the brilliance of the composer (in my opinion) and sometimes fell short. I never exceeded them, at least for the movies I 'scored' for fun. The ST Original Theme was one I could not top - or equal.. The latin beat, flamenco rhythm I NEVER would think to put to futuristic stories. Taxi Driver is another that's just too good. So is Fargo - using a theme from music in that area. I haven't watched the best ST TV episode in a while - City on the Edge of Forever. But I think there are some cool themes in it, including an old standard my band used to play, Goodnight, Sweetheart. If you watch it again, maybe it will inspire you to combine that old song with a ST theme. People love the episode COTEOF, so maybe you will thrill some fans with your original arrangement. Just a thought! Keep on rockin' in the free world!

This needs to be sold on a physical format! I'd buy both a Blu ray version to enjoy at home as well as a CD version to enjoy while traveling. Well done!! I've listened to this so many times already, it is absolutely beautiful.

I hear so little of the Animated Series theme, it sounds gorgeous in piano form.

It is sadly often overlooked, but I still love it! And I agree - when you take out the very 70s sounding orchestra and big band from the original recording and just leave it to the piano, it really shows how great the composition really is! :)

Someone please tell me why the music between 11:55 and the next minute and a half still hit me square in the soul 30+ years later? Unreal

David - thank you SO MUCH for your renditions. I’ve listened all the way through countless times. Seriously I prefer a lot of these over the original or orchestral versions. I didn’t know the animated series theme could be so damn beautiful!!!! An all time great now. And you made Baku Village even more beautiful and romantic than the original!!! Just unbelievable

Thank you so much!! I'm glad someone noticed that! Hahaha. I thought it would be a nice touch, along with the different fonts for each film or show title. It definitely added a lot of time to the editing, but I'm glad it paid off for the fellow hardcore fans! Cheers, man! And live long and prosper! :)
