Excellent! Weight differences due to gravity adaptation, allergies to standard issue items, and some people being less tolerant/understanding of such differences than others... All things that feel very "organic" as plot background.

Yes you are correct about the axis and close quarters, also what people did not see was the many takes and shots various angles that did not make it in the final cut. It is Editors choice as to what flows best in the final draft. Personally, I think that Tim and Randy did an excellent job that day directing all of us in this episode. Thanks Tim and Randy you both ROCK!! And thanks to the Editors too you also ROCK.

Thanks for noticing! You may not realize this, but we based all our CDR diagrams on the original ones from TMP. We also copied a few others from ST:IV and ST:TWOK. I was very time-consuming, but we wanted them to be as accurate as possible! And believe it or not, we took the basic control panel layout, and realized that they're simply QWERTY keyboards!

Methinks we have a CMO who needs a 'discussion' (one way) with the Captain before he puts her ass either in hack (confined to quarters for a time) or removed from his ship. I've served with ship's Captains who have done this with underperforming junior officers or put the malefactor ashore at the first opportunity.
@Potemkin17115 жыл бұрын
The Potemkin is crewed with the "underperforming junior officers" and "malefactors" who were put "ashore at the first opportunity" by their previous commanding officers. It's sort of the point of the production, in fact.

I really did NOT think the doctor’s critiquing of his weight, his outfit, nor any allergies he had, to be, as some people call it: “funny”!! As someone who used to struggle with weight issues, not to mention certain things my body is allergic to, not to mention the doctor’s verbal, loud, dressing him down, right in front of the crew, I find none of what she said or did “funny” in any way!! I took extreme offense that she didn’t know anything about his peoples’ medical history, nor anything about him. In my opinion, she went out of her way to intentionally hurt his feelings, choosing to be narrow minded, not willing to learn anything. No one should be humiliated like that by anyone else. Especially if that person is a doctor! I don’t allow anyone to treat me, nor anything about me, with such disrespect & discourtesy. If I were the captain, I’d order the doctor to be immediately put on report, all her privileges revoked, putting her in het stateroom, having a back up doctor to take her place, while we turn the ship around, drop her off with the authorities, get a more compassionate & understanding doctor. I’d have her license revoked, & her drummed out of the service. In my opinion, she was rude & totally insensitive to the crewman, her attitude harsh & unforgiving. The crewman was only doing his job, following the orders he was given, to the letter. I didn’t find anything about this video to be “funny” in the least!! I felt it was heartless, offensive, uncaring, to the point I wished I’d never watched it. I’m sorry if my words or viewpoints offend anyone. That’s not my intent. I hope the captain gives the doctor the dressing down I feel she deserves. I also feel that she should publicly apologize to the crewman she was harsh & rude to, in front of everyone. I hope I haven’t offended anyone here

@Potemkin; Even Heavy Gravity World persons 'still' need to keep their weight within certain parameters. Example, Captain Dylan Hunt from Andromeda was born on the Heavy Gravity World Tarn Vedra to a Earth Father and Tarn Vedra Mother, and each time he got his physical, he was told to watch his weight and keep it as it currently is under certain weight guidelines and limitations, and then they also went on to give him any necessary hypos needed when he was in lower gravity places.

Delaney, saw through her veil and dry humor and reminds Doctor Drake she has a great heart, great wit and would do just fine on his planet, and even gets in his own fine joke of... SPOILER ALERT..... "Too bad you're so DAMNNnnnnn Scrawney!" Delaney knew he screwed up, he accepted it and her dry humor, wit and Southern Belle embellishments and he afforded her the best danged compliment of all. He complimented her as well as joked back with her.... And that dear watchers is a great compliment

@silvereagle2061 Well, the next five are vignettes running 4-6 mins. But then the last production for our first season, "The Night the Stars Fell from the Sky," is probably the length of a TV movie, around 90 mins.

I think what most people are 'Missing' in this comedic dialogue exchange between Delaney and Drake; He failed to get his Crew physical before assuming his new duty station on the new ship. And as the CMO, she had to leave Sickbay, find Delaney and remind him that according to Medical Regulations, no Crewman can assume duty station until they are Cleared by the CMO. Drake is a Southerner like McCoy, dry whit and dry humor and Delaney realized his faux paux and made the best of his neglect...

@GARY42353 Actually, he's not fat. He's a heavy-gravity planet humanoid, and if you'll continue to follow the series, the next time you see him he's around 75lbs lighter. The doctor's orders were followed. :)
@Potemkin171112 жыл бұрын
It was meant to be more of a joke. Right up there with pointy-earred hob goblin for our favorite Vulcan. Good point about Heavy Gravity humanoids would find lower gravity less healthy. Might do a story on that!
@carloak912 жыл бұрын
I think you misunderstand., I wasn't talking about lower gravity although that might be detrimental. I meant it was inappropriate to order him to reduce body weight through diet. And calling him a wimp because he is allergic to the material they use for uniforms is not at all professional. It's not his fault. Of course, McCoy wasn't always known for his tact concerning Spock, so maybe.
@Potemkin171113 жыл бұрын
@damianryanfilms Probably 5-7 times, depending how you interpret it. However, if our director chooses to disregard it (as Tim did in "Doctor's Orders" and as I did in the upcoming "Darkness"), as long as it doesn't detract from the story, it's fine since it's a basic guideline. And since the camera is very close to the axis on "Doctor's Orders," crossing over it doesn't really interfere with the story at all. Your mileage may vary, of course. But thanks for the input! We appreciate it!

Indeed. When I cast Renda Carr (who's as sweet as a fan can be), I told her that her character would be unpopular, but that was the idea. We've played it that way for 8 years now, and she's still active as the Chief Medical Officer of the DEIMOS these days.

I find it very strange that the doctor would order him to lose weight when he is within his weight range. She doesn't take into account his environmental development. For him to lose weight would probably not be healthy. It might for someone born on Earth, but for someone born on his planet, it would probably be detrimental. And in such an event, I would consider the doctor's orders unlawful without a second medical opinion. Still a good story though. Thanks so much for sharing.

Dr. Carr might be a good diagnostician, but her bedside manner *sucks.* In The Federation, before declaring someone overweight, you should investigate their planet of origin and determine whether they are or are not overweight. A person born and raised on a heavy gravity world is going to appear to be overweight to someone born and raised in 1G. But in such a case, appearances would usually be deceiving. But she just assumes he's overweight without knowing his background? In a multi-planet organization? Not that great of a physician, I'm sad to say. And calling him a wuss because he is allergic to what the uniforms are constructed of? Uncalled for. Totally inappropriate behavior. She should be ashamed of herself. Still good work though. Thanks for sharing.
@Potemkin17113 жыл бұрын
I had wanted actress Renda Carr to show the extreme side of people. Doctor Drake is disrespectful, arrogant, rude and crude, the way that some make Doctor McCoy to be today. However whereas McCoy had a twinkle in his eye (and from time to time a bit of H.L. Mencken in his heart), Doctor Drake was meant to have no redeeming qualities. And we honestly don't see them until her first appearance in Starship Deimos' "The Lucky One." And then we worked very hard at rehabilitating the character, to the point I believe we succeeded.

Well, so's calling a patient "fat ass." I've had two doctors here in Albany address me as that, preceded by "lose some weight." LOL I like my doctors to tell me what they're really thinking. Back to the heavy gravity thing, astronauts lose bone density in near zero-G. I'm thinking something similar may happen to our big guy.
@flippintwit43755 жыл бұрын
I gave a like, but... the DR's comments were TOTALLY out of line; as a Dr to patient relationship; her comments, in public, were absolutely unprofessional. She should already know the medical history of the crew under her care; where they come from, allergies, physiology, etc... The way she chose to go off on the 1ST officer, her superior, smacks of a feminist ( even feminazi) bend that I've been noticing in some of the fan fiction videos. STTOS and all of the other STs valued merit above race, creed, religion OR gender. That IS Star Trek. Don't let us go the way of Star Wars; into that good night, without a fight; evil lurks in the dark... And yes, winter is coming.

I would recommend watching more than the debut episode of a character rather than the body of work where we see her grow, both in Project: Potemkin and Starship Deimos.

Yes, Dr. Drake is a total bitch, but I'm not sure that the first officer qualifies as an "irresponsible jackass." Polim n'Ahman, the Rinorian tactical officer, is actually a pretty straight up guy. And I'd have to disagree that Captain Grigory is "snooty, snobbish, conceited and smug." These are the same qualities critics apply to Jean Luc Picard, but I don't think they're even close to describing Captain Grigory. I hope you'll check out our other productions, even if you don't care for our crew
