The days when federation ships didn't "need" to all have a saucer, and each ship had a different badge, like a "mission patch" for today's astronauts. I wonder why the Enterprise mission patch became the badge for the entire Federation?
@johnbockelie38994 жыл бұрын
The Enterprise delta became the symbol for star fleet because out of all the star ships assigned during the five year exploration of space period , 2266 - 2269, the Enterprise accomplished her mission successfully . in one piece. She was legend. So star fleet adapted her symbol for. General use. Captain Kirk was promoted to Admiral. 2270. Now you know the rest of the story.
@STho2052 жыл бұрын
@James Clark Each ship had a radically different patch shape. Look up a shot of Matt Decker and Ron Tracy from different Starship Class cruisers. The starbase staff had genrric round sunburst patches. You see that same one on every starbase, space station and ground assignment. That must have been the generic Starfleet Badge in the 60s. The ships had specific mission patches like NASA crews did. When you see liberty on bases like in Court Marshal you do see some Enterprise style patches mixed in with others. Most likely stock costume shirts they stuck on extras and one line walkons.

Season 1 and 2 are on Amazon. I saw season 1 and starting season 2. I remember never watching this as a kid 1973. i was 8 years old. I watched just about every single cartoon possible Saturday mornings from 6:30am-1pm. Only took me 45 years to watch it. And they actually really good. in 1973 there was a Hollywood California writers guild strike. But writers where aloud to write animation. So this is why the episodes where really good not meant for 8 year olds but 13 and up i'm guessing.
@sail2byzantium4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I still think the show holds up well, given its origins for Sat morning fare nearly a half-century ago (the 30 minute format is the only real negative here. Watching this when I was 9 or 10, 30 minutes would feel like a longer span of time--but Trek being a dramatic (and action-adventure show) does better with the hour format. Of course, Fimation was already spending a ton of money just doing half hour episodes . . . ). RE: So this is why the episodes where really good not meant for 8 year olds but 13 and up Yes to this as well--this was in fact a sore spot for NBC when the show aired. The animated Trek actually got very good ratings (acc. to Lou Scheimer), but wasn't doing well with what NBC thought should be the core demographic for the show--the younger kids crowd (to which the commercial advertising was geared). It was teens and adults doing the watching. The unfortunate bias we have mostly escaped from, thankfully, that if something is animated it must be a kiddie show.
