Pretty good, my only real point of critique being the bussard hemispheres on the front of the warp nacelles. The "ribs" need to be on the inside, not the outside, and they need to be thinner, and uniform all along their length. Otherwise, nice job!

Hello, a great video and build! I've just had a look in my box and while the lid says "1:650", I'm rather certain it's in "1:537" scale compared with the "Refit" model kit (and the "Reliant"). Their saucer sections match up whereas my other 1:650 scale enterprise is a lot smaller in comparison.

Really fantastic job! Well done. Based on the internal details and how they compare in scale to an adult human, what would you say is the total length of the ship in "real" life?

@kaxtorplose9 ай бұрын
Go to 8:40. See the hand? It's on the smaller side of average size. Measure the hand and use that for a reference to judge the diameter of the bridge.

Could one make a regular model of the Starship Enterprise with this kit?
@Jungfrauenquelle Жыл бұрын
Not with this kit! If you want a regular model then google them Star Trek Ncc 1701 Enterprise W/ Pilot Edition or Star Trek Ncc 1701 Enterprise kit
@DavidRLentz Жыл бұрын
@@Jungfrauenquelle , I know about them. I understand the one under discussion was 22" long. I find the 1960s AMT 18" kit too riddled with errors. So, I recently thought to consider a modification of the cutaway model. Sigh. What do you know of the Revell AG (Germany) kit of the Starship Enterprise (TOS)? Would you know the scales of these models, please? I include the 1980s AMT kit of the Starship Enterprise Refit/ Enterprise -A. I never can find straight answers. A little off topic: had you heard some fans had built a full-sized model of the Starship Enterprise (TOS) --yes, a 288 metre, 947-foot!-- replica. It may be a KZbinr boast. If it is true, you will have to do the rivet counting! My eyes would go on strike before I had reached my age (which I cannot remember)!

While the TOS Enterprise is a timeless classic, the cutaway highlights some of the longstanding design issues, flaws with the original design. Notably, the thin transverse cross-section of the neck, which should have been thicker, or upscaled. Also, the concave profile of the saucer section underside, resulting in thinning down to one deck thick for no apparent reason other than overall aesthetic design exterior. Both issues have been fixed in the Kelvin Enterprises, somewhat in the Tos Tmp refit, and also the Snw Enterprise. Both Snw and Jjprise have thicker necks and flat, no concave saucer undersides
@jv-lk7bc5 ай бұрын
incorrect. What you in ignorance call "design flaws" are aspects of the original concept that set this ship apart from all that came before and redefined what a starship could be, for all who followed in Jeffries/Roddenberry's footseps. The curves of the saucer are part of its ability to navigate atmosphere after separation under extreme circumstances. basically as a lifeboat, since this class did not have escape pods. The neck and pylons are exactly the way they wanted them. Its a warpship not a rocket, and during maneuvers it makes use of attractor/pressor/stabilizer beams incorporated into the hull to stabilize it, negating the need to conform to outmoded steel-hull engineering dicta. Theres an aspect of "see what we can do" showing off of engineering prowess to that .. which is appropriate in a ship of the line designed to operate far afield, representing the advantages, power and prestige of the Federation to both prospective members and to prospective foes. She's a proud elegent beauty by design. and stands ready to embarass you any day you choose to challenge her. Revisionist nonsense has marred her beauty and pales by comparison. Theres a reason the most perfect version is sitting in the Smithsonian, where she belongs. Those others aren't and never will.
