As soon as Kirk and his landing materialize on the planet, they are rocked by a violent tremor, as is the Enterprise itself (That Which Survives)

Spock's humor is the best. It just comes out of nowhere.

It was unintentional, of course, but that's one of the best kinds of humor.

"Mr. Spock! The planet's gone!" - the lady in the gold uniform says this, just as the lady in red leaning against the wall behind Scotty disappears in the next shot continuing mid-speech! A funny error that I have to wonder if it was left on purpose or not

The moving rocks are great, I don't remember them being used in any other episode, I bet the set really cost some money to build.

That was a lot more than I remember - usually it's just the camera vibrating with some rocks thrown around :)

You would think with all the violent shaking, speeding up and slowing down from the speed of light they’d have some seatbelts on those chairs.

Well if the inertial dampers worked they wouldn’t be holding on to the furniture. And no, seatbelts wouldn’t do you any good at the speed of light.

I actually rather enjoy this episode for some of the reasons that many sane / intelligent folks do not. I enjoy the somewhat snarky Spock in this episode, and his interactions with Scotty for example. There is a sequel book to this episode that I have not read yet...

Although I doubt they thought much of it at the time, that scene on the transporter was a first (and only) occurrence on TOS. It showed that you remained conscious and aware of your surroundings while being transported. In fact it showed that you could actually move a little while it was happening! This was never done again until the movies.

Third season episode, That Which Survives. Not exactly one of the best episodes in the third season, however, here are some trivial facts. DeAmato is played by actor Arther Borbatos, who played s gypsy in both The Wild, Wild West and Bonanza. He was Cyro in the episode Dark Star in Bonanza. Actress Lee Mariweather was in the Irwin Allen tv series, The Time Tunnel and was Barnaby Jones's secretary.

I am pretty sure this was just planned as a quick look around, maybe an hour or two. That being said, we never saw any sign of emergency supplies of the type you mention ever even being thought of by landing parties, which does in fact seem something of an oversight.
