@meris84866 жыл бұрын
So you're glad this wasn't a good episode?
@dusty23664 жыл бұрын
Here's something that kind of irritates me about this two-parter. When Picard was assimilated in TNG, it was the most traumatic experience of his life, which he never quite moved past, still getting nightmares about it years later but, correct me if I'm wrong, when Janeway, Tuvok and Torres return to Voyager and have their implants taken out, it's never brought up again. It's not even consistent with Seven, who had some of hers as a permanent reminder because they couldn't be removed. I don't care if the borg have fallen in firepower, but when you can have characters be assimilated and un-assimilated with no consequences, *that's* nerfing the borg.
@tonypragz4 жыл бұрын
picard struggled as he watched in horror as he helped destroy a fleet of star ships during the battle of Wolf 359. janeway etc probably a bit of cheap writing but then they werent borg for very long, but also they knew they would be going to have to be assimilated as part of the mission

Meanwhile the opposite happened in the DS9 Dominion war, every ship destroyed in 1 hit..
@iridium95125 жыл бұрын
Only thing I could say is they were holding back. I remember in one episode Borg Queen said to Seven that she could at any time destroy or assimilate Voyager and she purposely avoided doing that because she respected or cared about her or something. I think this is a cheap way out and quite unrealistic. Still, this episode was ridiculous because Janeway picked worst target she possibly could to attack. While still unlikely, I thought they should have tried to find a sphere, and left tactical cube for 8472 war.
@varidian6946 жыл бұрын
This makes no sense though... An entire starfleet armada could only just beat a standard borg cube... And yet voyager can go solo toe to toe with the borg 😂
@faytneris5 жыл бұрын
There are 20 years of technical improvements between these two events ;) Does technological development stand still in out time? Where were we 20 years ago and where are we these days? There is your answer.
@echoalpha80153 жыл бұрын
Not really though. Voyager never stood a slither of a chance, the sole purpose of them attacking was to get the cube to remodulate their shields and beam the away team onboard. Even with the sphere's help, i doubt they could have destroyed the tactical cube -even with insider help (7 and the klingborg). I think the queen only initiated self destruct out of mission failure to capture unimatrix zero. Also, two year later reply...

AS they are a collective, why should any one of them be able to make independent judgements and carry out actions that could easily be automated? Carrying a lot of surplus baggage there!
@mabus49105 жыл бұрын
@@nlo114 Decentralized systems have advantages. For example they can be faster sometimes. The brains of the drones could also function as cores in a computing network. Even todays CPU s use multiple cores to be able to do alot of calculations at the same time. The second part of your comment also holds true for the federation, why wouldn't you just outfit all federation ships with an AI when you have to fight a battle instead of risking lifes?

UPN was not more popular in all 11 of its concurrent years than The WB, for no reason. This, "Malcolm & Eddie," "Jersey Shore" (OK just kidding on that one but that show didn't last long and people still talk about; UPN had "Platipus Man" and "The Love Boat" though they didn't last long were examples of UPN shows with big names, that people remember, Miley's pop guest starred on the latter; "Seinfeld"-loving Sofia Milos was a guest star on the former, they were like "Jersey Shore"), "The Sentinel," "Smackdown," etc.. Plus their stations had superior syndicated programming, "TNG," "Judge Mathis," and "DS9" were on UPN's flagship in NY. And UPN was a real Warner Bros. network more than Tribune's crap.

@@tonypragz5933 The WB got more popular in its second half. "Buffy" doesn't count from the first half because they got popular more by mistake than through the network's own talents ("Buffy" was a good show on both networks, so this is not an indictment of the show). Annoying "Gilmroe Girls" was the reason, but their first real star-studded show was "What I like About you" also a good show.

Seriously Katie Holmes was not a big name and when "Dawson's Creek" (which wasn't a popular show so I don't understand the morons who say it was - brains the size of a peanut) came out. She only got big because she married Tom Cruise. On the other hand UPN had big names as guest stars on all their shows. For The WB, Amanda Bynes and Jaime Kennedy whose shows premiered on the network in 2002 and 2001 respectively were the network's first big star names

Exciting though it is, Star Trek writers wrongly assume that advanced species have nothing better to do than war with each other. Violent conflict is a human failing, abandoned long ago by off planet civilizations.
